It has been a bit since the last iteration of the Callaway X Forged irons. Today, multiple sets are coming out in the form of a player’s cavity and muscle back, but we are focusing on the Callaway X Forged CB.
Today they are announcing the latest version, the X Forged CB and MB and this post we are talking all things CB. In the video below, we explain the tech, take some swings and breakdown all of the data to give you a full understanding of look, feel sound and performance from the THP Tech Studio.
After watching that, what are your thoughts on the Callaway X Forged CB?
They didn’t have the IO shaft available?
Man, that pairing is so good.
Looking forward to your fitting. You’re already so in tune with your numbers so that’s going to be fun to watch.
It’s pretty legit in the Apex MB’s too. I went with the IO’s because of how much I enjoyed them in the CB’s and it might have been one of the best choices I’ve made in a while.
Nice! I am so impressed by them.
The didn’t offer it to me but it was in the demo bays at PGATSS and it was pretty busy. I am excited to try it with all the options.
I think that pairing is going to blow you away.
What would you compare it to in previous offerings of any shaft? One thing I did like with the stock set up was the blacked out Z Grip. I have always been satisfied with the Tour Velvet that I never really looked elsewhere but think I could be making a switch.
That good eh? Any reviews planned for just the IO shaft?
Feedback of the LZ with the launch characteristics of OG PX.
That’s off one honeymoon experience though, so don’t quote me haha
I mean… We do have a tech studio at our disposal, and often times are eager for suggestions..
@JB where’s the whiteboard?
Next to my desk, but that’s already on there ?
Totally understand! Very early in the process.
I had a feeling it would be.
That is a story that will be told.
Great minds think alike!
All some of us have during the winter months is tech talk and sim time. Makes for a whole lot of pondering and wondering and tinkering.
new PX IO shaft is great. Feel is there, PX consistency without being stout to flex, weight balance is perfect and satin finish just looks amazing. Love the 6.0 I have in my bag
You might just like something we have coming up then
Sadly it snowed today so on course will have to wait a little bit
IIRC, I was told during launch week that only a few top fitters would have different weights. The weights are more about dialing in custom swing weights when being built than for fitting.
you should just sell them, you’ll never get over the offset… i know a guy ?
I’m that guy aren’t I.
LOL i was referring to someone else but now we’ll be keeping a closer eye on you ??
Lolwhat ??
I mean, I’ll help you bury them if want.. No one said you need to play them. I’m good with a shovel too. And digging holes in general. Just ask my wife.
Didn’t I just read you picked up a new set of Cobra’s?
Get it!!! They are awesome irons.
I did. That wasn’t really planned, but I’ve started to whittle down and move some others so I’m going to give them a go.
It’s going to haaarrd to leave the MB’s at home, but it’ll be fun. I’ve wanted to like them from the start.
For these irons? I bet it’s pretty easy.
I read somewhere else from one of the Callaway staffers that the new ‘21 Apex Pro is better iron to combo with the new Apex MB’s than the X-Forged. Would be interesting given the rumour is the new Apex Pro is hollow body design, aka P770. Looking forward to hearing all about them in another 6 weeks or so.
Nice, looking forward to hearing your thoughts
I kind of still want a 5i, and maybe a 6 from the CB to blend between the UT and MB’s. Not bad enough to actually to anything about it since I can’t actually get out and play, but I do like the thought.
I liked that thought originally too. Because it makes sense. I don’t know where I’ll want to fit the CB’s in any long term way. Those MB’s are so good. I’m going to take the CB’s out at least once or twice just them, and then try to play 4-7 like a normal person for a bit I think. I had originally planned that, or at least 4-6, but Apex MB.. mm.
I’m done hemming and hawing about playing these though. I thought about selling them to a certain THP’er real cheap, and then in a moment of blinding clarity I thought ‘maybe I should just shut up and PLAY them’. Offset be damned!
I don’t think the UT will stay in my bag. I’ve enjoyed it, but the 770 3i is a better fit for me in just about every way. Same or better performance for me in a much smaller package. Big irons with stuff in the back just get in my head. I don’t swing them as well. Going to try the ZX UT though. It looks sharp. I’m going to make a frankenhybrid to try to work back in after the new year, too.
Yes, play those, offset be damned. It’s visual, the actual numbers are OK.
Somewhat related, I can post some photos of the ZXU next to the Callaway UT. I’ve been slacking on getting the ZXU over to the golf store to hit with other things going on, and have not given enough attention to that club. The ZXU has a thinner top line by a touch, I was pleasantly surprised.
COMPARISON PICTURES?!?
LOL there literally has not been a single sunny or even brightly overcast day during the last week to step outside and take a halfway decent picture of the ZXU. Might be overstating things, but argh…
I need to get to work.
Weather de-motivation sucks. ?
You know what doesn’t though? Pictures of hot golf clubs. Do it.
Bringing a few of these with me. You know, just in case..
Looks amazing.
These looks so minty fresh!
I know, too fresh! Need to find an excuse to get them dirty.
In the wrong bag but they still look fresh! ??

Looks like the right one.
So ya, you don’t need the ZX7’s back with that setup!!!
1) that gray vessel is badass
2) that’s savagely hilarious!!! ??? well played, sir!
solid point
