Madras is a lightweight cotton fabric with patterned texture, used primarily for summer clothing. The fabric takes its name from the former English name of the city of Chennai, India. In all honesty, The Hackers Paradise had not heard of Cape Madras before this review. Now we realize exactly what we have been missing.
When a few of our readers came to us with requests to review this line, we jumped at the opportunity and quickly contacted them. After speaking with them and learning a lot about madras in general we were really looking forward to doing this review for a couple of reasons. First, the clothes look spectacular and are so unique that we were delighted to get to try them out. Second because the company itself is a pleasure to deal with. From customer service all the way up the list of names with the manufacturer, everybody was a joy. That means a lot to us here at THP.
So a package arrived at The Hackers Paradise offices just a few days after speaking with Cape Madras. Once opened we realized that words will never be able to do this apparel line justice. The Madras look is just incredibly unique and something that each person should try at least once. The clothing line was not originally designed for golf but as always, the golf consumer picked up on it. In the eyes of THP, nothing says summertime golf more than madras patterns.
Clothing that is perfect to play golf in, and yet at the same time can be worn just about anywhere else for summer attire is what makes this stand out other than the pattern. We got the pleasure of getting all “madras’d up” and heading to our local club. Everybody from New England knew exactly what we were wearing. People that were local to FL or from elsewhere just looked at it and said “where can I get some of those patchwork shorts?”
“Uniqueness” wears off over time though and what you are left with are shorts or skirts. So a major factor when we review clothing is just how comfortable are they while you are playing 18 holes. We are delighted to be able to report back that the shorts and skirts that were sent are incredibly comfy. They are light weight and fit perfectly with their sizes being right on target.
Recommended? Overall, Cape Madras is a brand we highly recommend. The clothing has a price range from $75-$130 but we were able to find tons of stuff on sale for far less than that from online retailers.
