We have heard from multiple sources now that changes at the top at Wilson Golf are taking place.
While this has not be reported elsewhere as of yet, we will continue to gather information and share it as it becomes available. You can follow the news on THPGolf social media or on the THP Forum.

I have a hard time seeing how Wilson golf regains any of the past glory. My wife did marketing and promotions for Schwinn, another of the old Chicago icons, in the 1990’s. At that time they had climbed back to become the #1 mountain bike brand, were making big strides in road bikes, and were doing fantastic with their racing teams. They had rebuilt a strong company culture. But then the modern business minds came in and bean countered Schwinn into a China made bike brand selling low cost in large retail. They blasted out fitness. This may not be Wilson’s fate, but the only place I have seen their golf equipment is in a dying local sports shop, that’s 75% hunting equipment. Hard to see how they move forward.
If I was Wilson I know who I would call to come back and run the entire golf division

I said that to a friend of mine just now. I can’t see that happening.

You would know more than I, but that just would make a lot of sense
Was a fan of Wilson back in the day and loved my Wilson Staff’s from 40 years or so. Was not a fan though of that driver realty design show they did on the golf channel. Tough road ahead of them.
As long as it puts them back on track, i hope its a good change. They had some steam and some momentum 7-8yrs ago with certain clubs. Tour V6 irons etc etc. Hopefully they can get back there.

Agreed. Although, Im not 100% sure that would be a upward move in this regard…….
I seem to remember a time when Wilson golf equipment was considered the Cadillac of golf.
Hoping for the best, iconic brand, but I sense it might be rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic at this point.
I hate these kind of things but if there was ever a brand in need of a major shake up it’s this one. An internal change would be silly. Go get an industry leader who can take good DNA and make it great
The more I think about this, the more I anticipate it resulting in a lot of nothing. Change requires bold leadership.
Maybe a marketing campaign where Wilson golf admits they’ve had some missteps lately and a recounting of their current and upcoming products lines, changes to business and just an honest assessment of where they stand now compared to their competition, where they were with their heritage, and where they want to go could be beneficial to them. Maybe that would drum up interest in their golf division and pull in people that would look elsewhere.????

I believe THPers and folks like that are more knowledgeable of Wilson’s marketing mess ups than the masses. An apology only serves to have the masses wonder what happened. Can’t imagine they fired Clark without an idea of what they want to do. I wonder if the guy who bought in from LuLu Lemon didn’t like the slow, deliberate pace W/S seems to operate at. They launch DynaPwr which took forever but not updated bags, wedges.

Not just bold leadership. It requires backing. Let’s see if Wilson golf gets some green lights from Wilson int.
Interested to see where this goes. I loved Wilson back in the day (I still have Wilson Staff blades) I’m hoping these changes are good for them
Poor Wilson. They grab a tour guy who bails on the driver and then the already obscure Streelman floats off to LIV, never to heard from again.

I genuinely think this has played a big part in the demise of W/S when it comes to marketing, shelf presence, etc.

Did Kisner stop using it already?
I wonder if they make any money in the golf club market.
When does someone at corporate say “Enough is Enough, we have more profitable lines within the brand”?

He’s only made one cut this year, so it’s not like it would be seeing much weekend action anyway.

If he’s not careful, it could become just a hobby.
Bazinga.
Hope it changes for the better. I really want Wilson to be in the conversation again
Saw this in Sporting Goods Media The last paragraph got my attention.
Tim Clarke, president of Wilson Golf since 2007, has stepped down, according to mygolfspy.com. Global R&D director Bob Thurman has reportedly become interim golf general manager.
Clarke started his career with Wilson Golf in 1997 as a regional sales manager.
In 2019, a consortium led by China’s Anta Sports acquired Finland’s Amer Sports, which included Wilson, Salomon, Arc’teryx, Peak Performance, Atomic, and Suunto. In December 2022, reports arrived that Anta, and its co-investors, including private equity firm FountainVest Partners, were holding preliminary talks with investment banks for an IPO of Amer Sports that could raise $1 billion or more.

So this promotional video isn’t accurate since the Wilson driver is in his bag? ?

As i predicted earlier, we would report the news and then others would follow with no mention…sad state, but used to it after Matrix, Ben Hogan, etc.

Is it often a mention of MGS over THP?
