Dirty golf balls, we all suffer from them, and we all have our specific go-to’s when it comes to cleaning them and getting them back into play. For some, it’s a wet towel, for others it has been the on-course ball washers…until COVID, where many courses have removed them altogether.
So, you know what they say, necessity is the mother of all invention. And so the Clean Flight Personal Golf Ball Washer was born.
Clean Flight Personal Golf Ball Washer
Yes, a golf ball washer that attaches to your bag, and honestly, I’m shocked we haven’t seen one sooner.
We all know the importance of a clean golf ball on the course, be it on full swings or on the greens, it matters. While you can carry a wet towel, a brush is always going to be more effective, hence why the ball washers are present on practically every golf course on the planet. But, with the past year we have had, many courses are pulling them off leaving a towel as the only option. Clean Flight aims to address that with its 12.2 ounce (unfilled) portable golf ball washer.
I’m not here to debate if its worth the $34.99 price tag compared to a towel, that is up to each one of you readers individually. What I can say is the price is much lower than I expected.
The reality of it is, it works well, and it is extremely heavy-duty polystyrene and stainless steel, not to mention, the screw on/off lid has a heavy gasket sure to last for a very long time with no leaks. The inclusion of a small container of “cleaner” is a nice addition on the carabiner. Using it is as simple as you think, unscrew the lid, fill the Clean Flight with water and a couple drops of cleaner, place the ball in the mechanism, then use it like any other stationary golf ball washer on any course.
The brushes are plentiful, the mechanism allows the ball to rotate to clean all portions of the ball, and you can use it anywhere on the course. Add in that cleanup is a breeze by dumping it out post round, as well as the fact that it was designed to fit in a cup holder for you riders out there, and it seems like they have thought of everything.
Though some will undoubtedly rally to discuss if it’s necessary or not since we all carry a towel on our bag, I’m not going to argue that point. Instead, I simply think that there is a place for something like this out there, and that there are many who would enjoy it. And you know what? That is why options are a win for us all.

Price: $34.99
The price is absolutely less than I expected, so I can see them gaining some traction as golfers are always looking for new "toys".
Nice review James.
Soo many options here and have to stick to the old school wipe.
Exactly same thought I had.
Perfect Stocking Stuffer or Grab Bag Gift.
And I agree with @Desmond – It’s perfect for the #pushcart mafia
Easy enough to attach to a bag or throw in the cart. But personally, I don’t know if I would go for this considering the price point, when a towel on the bag accomplishes the same thing.
Correct, same motion as golf ball washers on course.
I know a lot of guys who pay similar for a towel.
But, it’s like I said in the article, it won’t be for everyone, though at least it’s a creative concept and there will be a segment who are all about it.
That’s the one thing I didn’t check, if it’ll fit in my ClicGear cup holder.
I was surprised to see the price where it is, most companies tend to overprice to start, I don’t think they did that here, so it will at least gain some consideration by some.
Yes, it can be countered that a towel does the same thing. And the price point is too high. $35? for a ball washer that I can do the same thing with a towel? Well, if you look at some of the quality offerings for towels (like players towel or a logoed towel from an OEM or ball manufacturer) you’re looking at close to or more than that price.
I’m typically a drag the ball across the turf kind of guy mainly because I don’t want to get my towels dirty. (That means I need to wash them. And dry them. And fold them. And remember them the next time I go golfing… and I’ve forgotten them repeatedly because of that.)
This thing looks like something I’d like to pick up.
You don’t need to use the solution, a drop of dawn works too.
I agree with this 100%
It’s interesting, I scoffed pretty hard at this initially, but, after using it I know a lot of guys at my course that would love it. Options are good, effective and thought out options are even better.
I’m a wet towel in my pocket kinda guy, but something like this would be nice to have in the cart.
I’d probably still carry the towel, but I use it for more than my balls anyway.
BUT with that said… it looks a bit bulky and heavy with water filled. Would I look ridiculous if I whip this thing out and starts scrubbing the ball at the tee box? My buddies would probably give me some grief, and then all ask to borrow it.
I used it carrying for this review, it clips on or stows in a pocket no problem.
I think on muddy days, it’s be at its most useful.
Also, it’s pretty indestructible, I tried to beat the hell out of it.
I don’t want the extra weight. I am not as young and strong as you. I strip my bag down as light as I can.
If 14-15 ounces matter that much, then I get it.
Reminded me of that when I unboxed it as well
I wonder if that is the original genesis of this product?
Woah woah woah. One thing at a time. I barely remember to use the tiny towel. Let’s not confuse me.
Seems like a cool thing. People definitely miss the ball washers. I know a guy that might like something like this.
My bags are actually pretty minimal in terms of what I carry, and it would lose the size and convenience vs. actual need equation for me, but it’s a pretty nice concept.
That is almost a pound. When you keep adding stuff up you can wind up with an extra 3-4 pounds pretty fast. I try to keep the bag as light as I can. 6 golf balls, range finder, towel, some tees, ball markers, repair tools, a magic marker and a bottle of water. That is it.
And that’s fine, I get what you’re saying, we all have preferences, my point is it’s not something crazy.
That’s a truly interesting idea
