The forgiving wedge. Once upon a time it meant putting an iron set wedge into your bag, but in recent years no one has been doing more to show that a forgiving wedge can be so much more than that than Cleveland Golf.
Here at THP we have been able to see the evolution of the CBX wedge design from the original to the most recent CBX2. The CBX2 in particular has gotten rave feedback from our community members and been a massive success for Cleveland Golf. If you want one of the most comprehensive rundowns of the CBX2, be sure to check out our review here in order to see just what sets the design apart.
Not long after the release of the CBX2 and its strikingly beautiful satin finish, Cleveland Golf brought out the CBX Full Face wedges in a dark finish. Since that time, we have heard numerous people ask about the possibility of a dark finish in the CBX2. Well, the time is now.
Releasing on December 18th, the Black Satin CBX2 will be available for purchase. As a reminder, the CBX2 wedges will be available from 46° to 60° with three different sole shapes, V in 46°/48°/50°/52°, S in 54°/56°, and C in 58°/60°.

looking at the website their no up charge shafts are fantastic
the customization is legit too
Would have much preferred the black to match my cbx full face and my new irons
I should have one in hand tomorrow and will add the in-hand pics to this thread post haste.
Yes you can including on pre-order.
Very true.
They do. They have a True Temper Tour Issue Onyx shaft or the KBS Tour Black
There will be a small upcharge, but it is there.
Was literally coming to post this.
So would you gather that this new black finish matches the FF finish?
Soooo good – spent a good amount of time building out some custom wedges earlier
You aren’t kidding. One hell of a lineup for sure. ZipCore. Tour Rack. CBX2. Full Face. Smart Sole. ?
Can you post a pic of it?
Do you play in real sandy soils, used from the bunker alot?
Yup it’s one thing Cleveland has done well. They traditionally haven’t offered the crazy amount of grinds available, but they hit so many golf demographics with other options that just aren’t there with other OEMs. Man their wedge line is deeeeeep.
Oh yeah.

When I get it in hand tomorrow I can answer this directly!
One of the THP videos from this year that stands out the most in my mind is the one where @Canadan hit the CBX2 As a comparison to a standard blade wedge. The data demonstrated the benefit that a forgiving wedge profile can provide to we mere mortals.
I don’t mind the wear look. It just gives the wedges character and I much prefer having the wedge colors be a closer match, but I certainly can see how others would view it the way that you do.
especially in the 50/52/54 lofts where you’re not trying to flight the ball. If it’s a stock shot regular option, it’s a fantastic spot to consider.
Nice! I can’t wait to hear what you think!
Opened box last night, can confirm it’s the same in hand to my eye.
EASIEST TO HIT WEDGES EVER.
It’s pretty ludicrous at times imo.
