DARKSPEED is a big release for Cobra golf, so there should be no surprise to see a full complement of fairway woods and hybrids. Utilizing PWR-BRIDGE weighting, PWRSHELL with H.O.T. FACE, and carbon fiber crown technologies, these metal woods offer increased speed, distance, and forgiveness to golfers. Each fairway comes equipped with MyFly8 Adjustable Loft Technology, allowing golfers to easily adjust the loft to meet their launch and spin requirements.

DARKSPEED LS
The DARKSPEED LS fairway wood is designed for golfers with faster swing speeds and is equipped with a space-grade titanium body and a titanium PWRSHELL H.O.T. FACE insert. Using titanium in this design helped Cobra R&D save discretionary weight and reallocate it to a lower and forward position in the head. Combining 68 grams of tungsten and PWR-BRIDGE technology helps shift the CG lower and forward, resulting in maximum ball speed and distance. Moreover, a lightweight carbon crown also contributes to weight reduction in the upper portion of the clubhead, leading to a CG location that is 3.2mm lower to the ground than in the previous model. Golfers can also fine-tune their ball flight with three swappable weights (2x 12 grams and single 3 grams).

DARKSPEED LS is offered in 3+ (13) , 3 (14.5), 5 (17.5) and comes with a UST Mamiya LIN-Q M40X White 70g shaft.
DARKSPEED X
Golfers looking for that all-around performing fairway wood will enjoy the balance afforded by DARKSPEED X, as it offers a blend of distance, easy launch, and forgiveness. As with DARKSPEED LS and MAX, X gets a boost from PWR-BRIDGE and POWERSHELL H.O.T. FACE Technology. One difference between X and the other models in the lineup is that X has no moveable weights. Instead, it gets just a lone 8-gram in the rear of the head.
DARKSPEED X is offered in 3W (15°), 5W (18°), and 7W (21°) and is paired with a UST Mamiya LIN-Q M40X Blue shaft.

DARKSPEED MAX
DARKSPEED MAX represents the most forgiving fairway wood in the lineup and is the most draw-weighted. One thing the X and the LS have in common is that they offer adjustable weights; only the MAX has one 12-gram weight and one 3-gram weight. Golfers looking for more draw bias can push the weight in the heel port or opt for the weight in the back for an even higher MOI design. MAX still receives the benefits of PWR-BRIDGE weighting, POWERSHELL H.O.T. Face technology, and a variable-thickness face design. Also, like its siblings, it is topped off with a carbon fiber crown to help lower that center of gravity.
DARKSPEED MAX is offered in 3W (15.5°), 5W (18.5°), and 7W (21.5°) and comes with the stock UST Mamiya LIN-Q M40X Red shaft available in senior, regular, and stiff flex. There is also a women’s model offered in 3W (18.5°), 5W (21.5°), and 7W (24.5°) with a UST Helium Nanocore Shaft.
Prices:
$429 DARKSPEED LS
$329 DARKSPEED X
$329 DARKSPEED MAX

DARKSPEED Hybrids
Cobra’s hybrid range has demonstrated impressive versatility throughout the past few release cycles despite being sometimes overlooked. The DARKSPEED Hybrid gets a boost in performance from PWR-BRIDGE weighting and Cobra’s POWERSHELL H.O.T. FACE Technology. The combination of these features is slated to provide golfers with higher launch capabilities, faster ball speeds, and enhanced forgiveness.

The DARKSPEED Hybrid family does not include the MyFly8 adjustable hosel. However, this series does offer five different lofts for golfers to select from. These loft options for the regular hybrid models begin at 17° (2H) and extend to 28° (6H). Golfers searching for a hybrid that complements their ONE Length irons will be happy to know that the DARKSPEED series features a ONE Length hybrid with three available lofts ranging from 19° (3H) to 24° (5H). A women’s hybrid line is also available starting at 21° (4H) and maxing out at 31° (7H).
Price: $279
Cobra DARKSPEED metal woods are available for pre-order today and will be available in stores on January 19th, 2024.
Here we go!!!
I love the look of the hybrids. They feel so satisfying to hit with a nice sound as well. The shaft I tested them in wasn’t a fit but get that dialed and watch out. They are going to be good. I’ve got a few more to test but they have big potential.
I tested it in a 4h and I’ll say that compared to a couple other 4h I tested it didn’t seem as large. I didn’t measure them directly but I think it was more the blacked out finish that could have been giving sleek and small. What it was I liked and appreciated it.
I left the face wide open on this one but it shows a little potential

Very nice and the shaft choices are awesome. I also like the adjustability.
Really intriguing lineup! I kind of like that each FW line has their own lofts. I’m thinking a LS 5W + standard 7W…
And the thought of continuing with a 6h is strong.
Great article @ddec !!
Great writeup @ddec Absolutely loving the look of these, really like the continuation of the Max and LS to differentiate heads. The fairways and hybrids with the matte black crowns look amazing cannot wait to hit these. Also excited to try out the stock UST Lin_Q shafts, I have not hit those before.
This is such a cool picture. Hybrid shape looks really good to my eyes.

Pretty incredible ballspeed for that strike
Yes! Give me all the matte black! Those hybrids look mean and I love the shaping and bonded hosel.

Yeah strike was poor but like I said it shows it’s potential with the right setup and a good swing on it.
Looking forward to seeing these fwy’s at address. Typically I lean toward the LS models and I’m guessing this will be no different
These have my attention!
Titanium fairway!!!!!
Great write up @ddec
I think the Cobra FW and hybrid lineup is potentially they most underrated product line in all of golf. They have been excellent for me in the past and always provide high strait flight and stopping power. Offering a 7 hybrid is also amazing for this #TeamHeadcovers guy.
Glad they stuck with bonded hosels, opens up performance benefits elsewhere and from someone who has a 4, 5, and 6 hybrid in the bag from a prior line Cobra knows how to nail the gapping.

Nail or air mail? ?
The Aerojet Max is probably my favorite fairway wood that I’ve played. This one will definitely be on my list of things to try this year. Maybe I’ll lose the 3 hybrid and go with a 5 wood this time. Hmm…

I’m intrigued, especially with the shaping of these. It looks like it is punch friendly when needing to bring the ball down
I hope these are out at the Golf Exchange expo in Dayton this weekend. I desperately want to try putting a better swing on this hybrid and see what kind of numbers I get. I’m expecting to be blown away if I’m honest.

How deep are you planning to go with the hybrid this year?
I was thinking of maybe going to a 5.
These things look SO good. Cobra is doing things right
Great article! Love love love the shaft pairings with these!
That LS fairway sounds like an absolute cannon. 68 grams of tungsten 😳
So many options to the top end, all of course depending on the gapping. A fantastic “problem” to have ?

Right now the 6 hybrid will get the nod out of the gate. It was good during early returns. If it settles in, who knows? I wouldn’t be opposed to grabbing a 7 if it made sense.
My hybrid expansion journey started with the Morgan Cup when I decided to go to a RadSpeed 4H after only gaming a 3h for the longest time. In ’22 I added the 5 hybrid and it was awesome. ’23 saw me add a 6 hybrid. ’24? time will tell
I dont typically get excited over fairways and hybrids, as I dont lean on them a whole lot for my game. But these look phenomenal, and I really like the weight reduction in the head lowering the CG a bit, I would think that would really create a nice launch angle for me.
This is a area that I’ve even more ignorant than most other areas re: equipment…and that is staggering to think about. The last fairway and hybrid I purchased were Cleveland Mashie about 9 years ago, so these have me far more excited (post-review) than I’d ever have imagined. I sound like a broken record, but these are stunning to my eyes. I am so excited to hit each of these and learn first-hand how all the tech Cobra has crammed into these translates to my game. I realize looks aren’t everything, but it’s near impossible to get by the aesthetics of this entire DARKSPEED line
Great job, @ddec !
I want to hit that titanium head really badly.

I don’t recall titanium being mentioned before no
Fairways and hybrids are not a strength of mine but I’m ever optimistic. I love the look and can’t wait to try these.
Haven’t spent as much time with the LS as I’d like but the X has been great in limited use. Something about the matte black and shaping makes it look real easy to get in the air.
Love that they’ve added some separation in the FW line and their hybrids are so underrated it’s silly.
The Fairway Woods could be real winners, as it seems they have improved on the Aerojet. I game a Aerojet 3W and love it, plus @JB had to pry the 5W out of my hands at Ballyhack to get it back.
I’m looking forward to hitting these soon.
The name absolutely fits the release. Cobra makes some great looking clubs!!!!

I have the latest King Tec in the bag and it is an absolute bomber of a club and forgiving. I can’t imagine it being better, but sounds like Darkspeed improved on that.
The looks are amazing, but I want to see the footprint of the X and Max in person because the 3w is usually a second tee option and I like a larger footprint there.

I feel like I could put one of those fairways in the bag just for looks. Who cares if I can hit the damn thing?

I can’t argue with that logic.
I love the shape of these, and I want to hit a X 7W ASAP.
I love the idea of titanium 3w.

I was thinking LS in a higher loft myself. I don’t know how it would play out, but man I’m interested in finding out.
I love how these look. I think I am going to give the LS a try and see if I can return to the success I had with the LTDx and could never quite match with the Aerojet.
A 17 LS sounds perfect.
Mmm if I can get an extra 3g weight to put 2 3s up front with 12g in the back on a LS 5w turned down to 16deg I might be in heaven!
These look fantastic.
Does anyone know how big the fairway wood heads are. I don’t see it listed on the cobra website?
Ok so at some point @JB had said he was really excited about a fairway wood this year and I’ve now not seen him say “this is the one I was talking about” yet with the release this week. I was expecting it to be the Cobrz after he didn’t comment on Callaway or TM. Did I miss it somewhere or is there still something to come?
