It’s hard to believe, but May is already here, which marks the approach of the PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club, the second major of the year. This time of year also signifies the unofficial start of summer, with Memorial Day on the horizon. Though for many, Memorial Day is associated with parades, cookouts, and camping, it’s important to remember the true meaning behind it. It’s a day to honor and pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving and defending our country.

Today, Cobra is continuing a meaningful and impactful collaboration by announcing the release of their new Darkspeed Volition America drivers. With every purchase of a Cobra Volition America driver, a portion of the proceeds will go directly to the Folds of Honor Foundation. This foundation provides educational scholarships to families of fallen American military heroes, which is a meaningful and impactful cause.
Cobra’s Volition America driver is the third limited edition of the Darkspeed drivers. Earlier this year, we saw a collaboration with the Palm Tree Crew and their Season Opener edition to commemorate the first major of the year, The Masters. Both releases featured prominent and unique designs on the carbon fiber sole plates. For the Palm Tree Crew driver, a palm tree design was used to put golfers in a relaxed vacation mindset. Meanwhile, the Season Opener unleashes the azaleas synonymous with Augusta National Golf Club. For the Volition America drivers, as you may have guessed, the design is unapologetically American, with not only our nation’s colors of red, white, and blue but also the inclusion of a Bald Eagle and an American flag on the sole. Instead of the standard black carbon crown, the driver has a new silver crown that complements the patriotic colors of the head.

As expected, the Volition America drivers are equipped with all the standard technologies found in the Cobra Darkspeed drivers. Golfers can choose between two models, the Darkspeed X or LS. These models feature a lightweight carbon crown and sole plate, a re-engineered PWR-BRIDGE weight, and a larger PWRSHELL face. The X and LS models also come with adjustable hosels and moveable weights, which allows golfers to customize and perfect their ball flight. For an in-depth discussion on the performance and technologies of the Darkspeed lineup, visit the THP Forum, where golfers have been talking about this driver family since its release in January.

Cobra’s Darkspeed Volition America driver includes a matching headcover featuring the Bald Eagle and American flag design from the sole. In addition, the driver is equipped with a Project X HZRDUS GEN 4 Black shaft, which has been painted in the same red, white, and blue color scheme. This shaft is available in regular, stiff, and x-stiff flexes.
Starting today, Darkspeed Volition America drivers are available in 9° and 10.5° lofts for $649 in both the Darkspeed X and Darkspeed LS models. More information is available at www.cobragolf.com.
This looks incredible!
That looks awesome.
Nice looking club and that headcover is amazing.
They really did a good job on that 1.
Looks great. Headcover is awesome. I do miss the days when their limited drivers came with premium shafts though.
Great looking limited release DarkSpeed dtivers.
??????
Another great option from them.
This is easily my favorite volition release of the last few cycles
NGL I like the grey crown way better than the standard black. I know they were going for a look with the all black dark speed thing but in hand it just didn’t fit my eye. I don’t think Rickie would need to take a sharpie to the face of this version.
I love this. It just screams America which is awesome. I love how they leaned into the eagle as opposed to just doing a color swap to RWB.
Wow

Absolutely love the limited releases that Cobra does. This one is en fuego.
I like the looks of this a great deal! Great job by Cobra! Thanks fot the writeup @ddec !
That’s really cool. Graphics on the driver if done well could become a trend.
pretty damn awesome
I love this so much! If I had one, I don’t think I would use it.
I thought the Aerojet version was perfect. Subtle logos on the face and toe, with the distinctive colourway. This one’s message is slightly more clear.
That headcover is truly spectacular! ??
This is fabulous! Sure wish it was available for the MC 😉
Man Cobra does their specialty drops so well.
Custom driver releases are awesome! I wish more companies did them, or did them as well as Cobra.
The whole setup is badass. I’m a headcover guy and that one is awesome
This is soooo good! ???
Volition line has always gotten me, whether in equipment or apparel. Love it!
America.
??
It’s a good looking head but they did the regular release so well with the matte black finish i don’t think they could come out with one that is better looking, at least to my eye.
The limited release drivers look great. This one is awesome. However, for me, the Darkspeed is so bad a__, the limited releases don’t seem as exciting as in other years.
Funny how we posted almost the exact same thought back to back.
That is a great looking driver!
Didn’t think it was possible to improve on this one but they nailed it. The silver crown is a nice switch, and that headcover is awesome!
This is definitely the best limited drop so far of the DS Series. Very well done.

The Palm Tree AJ last year was my favorite limited drop in quite some time, this one might one up it.
