It has been a lot of fun to watch Cobra Golf pave the way within the industry when it comes to the applications of 3D Printing. From multi-piece putters to the more recent LIMIT3D (and 3DP) irons, the relationship they have forged through collaborations with HP certainly seems to be setting the stage for a shift within the industry. Within this world precision is meeting innovation in ways never considered before, from prototyping all the way to the high-performance products the brand has released in recent years.
For example, look no further than the LIMIT3D irons which have been a true success for Cobra. With the first 500 doing so well, they have now come to a broader release with the 3DP. The one-piece construction via 3D printing had never been done before, and the elimination of the “extras” in designs like various badges, plates, drilling, or additional materials increased the precision exponentially.
Using an internal lattice structure, a world was opened by Cobra Golf that was not previously attainable, as the 316L Stainless Steel printing accomplished things traditional forging could not. Smaller profile met more playability, now Cobra wants to do the same with the premium putter segment.
“As leaders in technology and innovation, we recognized the potential of 3D printing to create more advanced products. The impressive performance gains of the LIMIT3D irons made it an easy decision to apply the same technology to putters. We are excited to introduce these new models and believe players will be impressed by their performance.”
Chad DeHart, Sr. Product Line Manager at Cobra Golf
By bringing the 316L Stainless Steel 3D Printing process to putters, Cobra believes a new level of precision shaping is now possible. Not only shaping though, the implementation of more precise CG placement as well as overall MOI. Yes, the LA Golf DLT (Descending Loft Technology) is present in the one-piece 3D printed design, still building four descending lofts (4°, 3°, 2°, 1°) into each shape to ensure forward roll no matter the angle of delivery. Also important to note, though they are all 3D Printed, each putter does undergo CNC machining during the finish process to make sure every radius is pristine in its visual flow.
For this first foray into fully metal 3D Printed putters, Cobra Golf is bringing not just one, but two models to market as a starting point and they are LIMIT3D.
Cobra Golf ENZO LIMIT3D Putter

The first of the two LIMIT3D putter designs, the ENZO is the full mallet. This particular shape really shows off the depth of collaboration between Cobra Golf and HP as the ENZO has a unique internal design structure which has helped bring the MOI up while keeping the feel in line with premium milled putters.

There will be two neck orientations offered, the single-bend ENZO and slant-neck ENZO-30. These two combined gives both a face-balanced as well as 30-degree toe-hang options for golfers. Based on the initial images, the ENZO certainly looks to turn heads in the mallet putter world.
Cobra Golf PISTA LIMIT3D Putter

Of course, it wouldn’t be any type of milled putter release, without a clean and classic looking blade, which is where the PISTA comes in. This particular model has been created using a Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) process. What in the world is that? According to our research, it means the metal powder is brought to a temperature which allows it to bind together, thus creating a solid surface without completely melting the material.

The shape is a very “traditional” blade look which uses a single flange alignment line. As with the ENZO, there are two PISTA versions. First, there is the PISTA-45 which is a full plumber’s neck that has 45-degrees of toe-hang, and a full shaft offset. Then, the PISTA-60 has a super-clean flow neck which brings 60-degrees of hang to the table, and ½ shaft of offset.
The Details – Cobra Golf LIMIT3D Putters

As you might have guessed from the LIMIT3D name being involved, these will be part of a limited release. Just how limited are we talking? There will be 500 of each version produced this time around.
Each putter is paired with the KBS CT Tour 120 putter shaft as well as SuperStroke Zenergy 2.0PT grip. Pricing is going to be $599 with availability through select retailers on their website cobragolf.com.

I’ve had it in my cart for a few days now, I think today is the day I pull the trigger. I wanted to give the Grandsport its chance and it’s good but this is such a cool story and I want to be part of it. It’s only money right? LOL

Hahahahaha, yes?
They really are tremendous though, hopefully we see them take hold and expand at some point (I’m still dreaming of a PN Enzo hahaha)

I have already put my request in for that putter months ago. I hope it comes to fruition at some point haha

??
For real though, the balance and MOI is really telling. I don’t know that it’s as forgiving as the non LIMIT3D versions, and I’d venture not, but it’s damn good laterally still. Shockingly good really.

The MOI stats is one I have wondered about and will ask this fall.
I’d also venture it’s not quite as high as the non LIMIT3D versions, but it’s high enough that I’ll happily trade a few MOI points to get the feel and looks there have. I don’t play to get paid so a smile as I pull it out or hit that sweet center make it worth it to me.

Whatever MOI stat it holds, it’s plenty lol. I’ve never felt more comfortable and confident in hitting and holding my lines.
One thing that bugs me about this is the grip. I can’t choose the grip I want and for this price tag thats kind of annoying.

This is a good point.
I will say the standard SS was surprisingly good, but it’s odd to have no custom options. Same for length, 34 and 35 only.
But my hook knife and saw went to work for me hahaha

A grip is easy to change sure but for that price tag I think there should be options. I also find the grip of choice for this style of putter very odd,

I’m 100% in agreement. Particularly since there are options for the other putters.
I was hesitant about the shape they chose, but it’s the first SS grip I’ve actually considered saving in years
