It’s time for the first ever Data Experience with Shot Scope. 4 lucky THP Forum members heading to Hammock Beach Golf Resort for multiple days of golf, data, fun and oh yeah, this is all 100% free including airfare.
Before getting ahead of ourselves however, the Data Experience is coming and just because you will not be at Hammock Beach with the Shot Scope Team, does not mean you cannot win an amazing prize.

How to Enter
We have two teams of three, each captained by part of the Shot Scope team. Team Gavin and Team Jen and each has two forum members on there to round out the teams of three. Team Gavin features @TRyan and @Danimal and Team Jen features @mmaynard11 and @das0
Step 1: Post below and include the following information.
Who will win the match? They will be playing best ball and it will be handicapped.
What device do you currently use to get your distances on the course?
Step 2: Follow along with this Live Update Thread and see if you were right and if you are the lucky winner. The updates will kick off below beginning Friday evening at 7pm ET.

The Prize: The lucky winner who predicts right, a prize pack courtesy of Shot Scope that will include a better way to get distances around the course and collect data and help you become a better golfer.
If you like our weekly contests, make sure you share them across the social media platforms below and check back each day for more new exclusive THP content.
Entries must be submitted by Friday May 13th at 11:59pm ET. The winner will be chosen randomly from those that guessed right. Please remember only one entry per person.

Yes, @GavinwithaR1 is correct. We hope to do more of these in the future, because it was a ton of fun.
Data Experience – Day 1
My Day 1 of the Data Experience Started SUPER early. My flight left Kansas City at 7:15 AM which meant the alarm went off at 4:45 AM. I woke up and headed straight to the airport to get the trip started. My flight from KC to ATL was uneventful. I browsed the forum and started to prepare myself for the weekend.
Landed in Atlanta and had a few hours to kill so I grabbed lunch and a couple of beers and boarded the flight, with Craig (das0) to Daytona. We arrived in Daytona around 3:00 PM and Craig (Danimal) was nice enough to wait for us and take us to Hammock Beach in his rental car. The drive was awesome, we talked about
the events to come, re-hashed stories from previous events, and were super excited to get to the resort. It has been said a few times, but the drive into Hammock Beach is breathtaking. The resort is beautiful and the same goes for the grounds surrounding it. We arrived right at check-in time and got the keys for our rooms and
Matt (mmaynard) ended up meeting us down in the lobby to do some quick introductions as well.
After we got to our villa, which was incredible by the way, we decided to shower and get ready for our 7:00 PM dinner. We showered up and Dan and Matt met Craig and I in our villa where we once again swapped stories and had a couple of drinks before dinner. Dinner was at the Atlantic Grille Ocean View Restaurant at the resort, and the food was incredible.
We were introduced to Gavin and Jen, who came all the way from Scotland on behalf of Shot Scope. They passed out the SWAG which was incredible. Not only did we get the new Shot Scope Pro LX+ but we also got a couple of additional watch bands, and some tags and Jen even picked us up some swag from the Old Course! A fantastic touch.
Dinner was spent grilling Gavin and Jen about their background and learning about Shot Scope and their plans for the future. We enjoyed some drinks and I had a fantastic ribeye. Once dinner ended, we said our goodbyes to JB and the Shot Scope folks and headed to Loggerheads, which is a sports bar on the resort for a nightcap.
We had some more drinks, Craig had some more food, and I, for some unexplained reason decided we needed some Fireball shots. We wrapped up around 11 PM and headed back to our rooms exhausted, but ready for the next day.
I think having an afternoon/evening without any golf was a great way to kick off the event because it allowed us to become familiar with our group and explore the resort a little bit.
Morning – Day 2
We didn’t tee off on Day 2 until 1:30 PM, but even though we all got very little sleep on Thursday, and stayed out a bit later than we probably intended, we were antsy to get up Saturday morning and get the day started. We all met down near the 18th hole of the Ocean Course and took a stroll around the property. We grabbed some breakfast
at the snack shack near the driving range and watched some people tee off on the Ocean Course, excited for our day to begin. After breakfast, we all went back to our rooms to get ready for the round, and Craig, Dan, and I couldn’t wait any longer and headed down to the Pro Shop to browse their inventory.
Once noon finally hit we grabbed a ride over to the range to meet Gavin, Jen, and JB to get the day started.

TRyan gave a good recap on the trip to the resort. This was my first THP event and to say I was nervous was an understatement. Having 4 THP-ers being a part of this event made it feel more comfortable, plus JB, Gavin, and Jen are some of the nicest people you will meet. Any worry I had was gone early in the trip, probably during the ride to the resort with Danimal and TRyan since the conversation was great and views for days. Having the afternoon, dinner, and yes, excess food and fireball shots afterwards, was a fantastic way to break the ice and get to know people and their backgrounds. I still had some nerves when round 1 was looming, but the lessons with Gavin and Jen, plus some range time helped with that. It was easy to forget my worries when playing a beautiful course like the Ocean course. By round 2, I was ready to go and try to come back with some good golf.
This event went spectacularly, not just because of the way it was run and the great people involved, but the competition came down to the last putt of day 2. How often does that happen? There was great team work, encouragement through both rounds, and plenty of laughter even when I almost died after a golf ball flew by my head mere inches away (Good times, right Gavin?) and the shot I hit that almost took out JB (My bad). It was a fantastic way to wrap up the event.
And the event isn’t over. Our data is to be posted and course of action to improve laid out. I am very excited for this part! Onward and upward! But not the strokes gained. That should go down, hopefully. 🙂

Well I did hear her whisper to @dAS0 if I made that putt she was tackling me in to the water. And for the masses following…I did not sleep well because I was thinking about that putt all night long.

I can see her doing that. Check for snakes first. And grab TRyan’s ball while you are in there. :p

I remember strolling up to you on 16 at Ocean Course and you had hit it too well off the tee and it went through the fairway. I said “I will help you look, but I bet there are critters in there”. I apologize now for not helping long 🙂

I blame @GavinwithaR1. @JB can attest that he talked me into going for it on every single Par 5 with less than satisfactory outcomes :ROFLMAO:

This is very true. Gavin said “he has the chance to be very good if he stops listening to me”.
I just wanna take a second to thank the four THPers who made this event so incredibly awesome. The courses were great, the food was great, obviously playing with two players like that is great, but you four were awesome and I can’t wait to see your feedback moving forward in the various Shot Scope threads.

As always, thank you for making the event so memorable.
The courses were fantastic, the food was top notch, and the resort was incredible. I have already told my wife we are going back to Hammock Beach some day.
More to come in my additional recaps, but have to give you and Morgan a shoutout as always you continue to raise the bar for events.

It was an absolute pleasure to be a part of this experience. I am experiencing a travel hangover at the moment but I still have a smile on my face. I’m really happy that Shot Scope is coming back with The Data Experience 2.0. It is such a natural Fit for the THP Community. Looking forward to reviewing and answer any questions.

Thankfully all I saw were two rabbits.

I’m still smiling from this event. Thank you for setting up this amazing trip! There were so many memorable moments and I am grateful that I was a part of this experience.
But we don’t talk about hole 18.
