Epoch Tee Review

When it comes to tee’s it seems there is a new buzz every season. There are tee’s made of bamboo, plastic, nylon brushes, and whole myriad of strange contraptions. All are out to capture the corner of the market that is looking for that extra advantage off the tee. Whether or not that is some extra added distance or control off the tee, certain tee manufacturers have done well separating them from the rest of the pack. This week I have decided to highlight a product that I believe performs well, has tour success, and even and has committed itself to protecting the environment. The review was certainly a simple one, simply because I have been playing epoch tees for some time and enjoy their performance and durability.

The Epoch tee is the only performance tee with radius posts that span the width of a golf ball dimple. This unique feature creates the lowest coefficient of friction of any tee, eliminating deflection at impact and increasing ball speed and control off the tee. Whether or not Epoch tees add extra distance is debatable but when compared to a traditional wood tee there are certainly performance enhancements when using the Epoch. I have also noticed that the Epoch tee provides a bit more control off the tee, especially when used with a driver. I spent a great deal of time testing several tees on the market over the last season and I played the Epoch tee for a majority of the season and have been pleased with its performance.

Besides performance enhancements, the Epoch has a few features that attracted my interest and ultimately my decision to play the tees. Durability is a key selling point with the Epoch and the tee performs well. There are certainly tees on the market that will last longer than the Epoch but will not deliver the performance aspects of the Epoch. The combination of Epoch’s playability, performance, and durability makes this a world class product. To top this product off with the proverbial cherry, Evolve Golf has made a commitment to produce the most sustainable products on earth and the Epoch tee is 100% biodegradable. Throw in 109 worldwide wins, including 34 on the PGA Tour, and you have a tour proven product with a commitment to performance and environmental sustainability in the isles of your local golf shop.

  • Great review! Been using the Epoch tee for months, tremendous product.

  • Thanks Frank,

One thing I also love about the Epoch tee is its ease on your hand, unlike other prong tees that can be tough to use when you face a tee box with hard ground.

  • I agree. I use them and they are my favs over all the non-traditional tees.

  • Nice writeup Dan.

I got a sack full of the Epoch’s as a prize for winning a Caption This contest here. I played the same tee for an entire round this past weekend, it held up for the entire round, and got tossed back into my golf bag. I also managed to hit 9 fairways, which for me, is monumental.

I like using them, they work well, and are much easier to push into the Earth than many other ‘performance’ tees.

Once I finally use up the ones I’ve got, I’ll be switching to them exclusively this season.

  • Ill have to pick up a pack and give them a try.

  • Gummi, glad you liked the tees. I have been using these tee’s for a few seasons now and they are my go to. As you mentioned, the tees are quite durable and are easily pushed into tee boxes.

  • Been using these for a while and all I can say is they are as good as they promised and if they reuce the trees cut its a bonus. Thankfully now available in the UK from 0800SPORTS

  • Something seems funny about this! Alot of positive comments. Call me suspicious!
