The THP Equipment Mail Bag is back! One of the most asked questions regarding shafts is how to find out what shaft flex is right since they appear to be so different? If you play stiff in one driver, should you try the same flex in another?
THP TV sat down with Danny Le from UST Mamiya to discuss shaft flex and what it means in this episode of Tech Talk…Reader Questions Answered.

No industry standard with shaft profiles, interesting. Do fitters know this? That’s a lot of information to have in ones head.
Nothing Danny said surprised me but it certainly goes to show how important it is to receive a comprehensive full bag fitting to achieve optimal results.
It’s still pretty crazy to me that there is no standard for flex profiles. All the more important to get fit I guess. Danny does a great job of explaining it though.
I was not fit and with a limited understanding of shaft and my numbers is how I chose my driver shaft. Everything else was to answer a curiosity.
In the mind of a genius! Another great tidbit from the great Danny Le
Cool video. I’ve done fittings and I’m generally fit into stiff flex shafts. I typically have a favored shaft company that I go to as I trust them with their specs. I know Danny says it changes within the lines depending on what they’re going after, that was intriguing to me.
