The 2012 Open Championship came down to the last four holes and while half the media seemed to already have engraved the name Adam Scott on the trophy, in the end, Ernie Els was the man that held up the prize. Els won this tournament with one of the more unique bag setups THP has seen in quite some time.

As you can see, Els had three of the new Callaway X Utility Prototype clubs in his bag and these are getting rave reviews early on. Below you can see a picture of this utility and stay tuned to THP for more details on this intriguing new club line coming soon.
Interesting, I look forward to reading more about the X Utility Prototypes. Very proud that Ernie was able to pull out the win.
Very interesting to say the least the extra mass makes them look like a muscle back hybrid….would love to demo those.
That’s a great bag! Congrats Ernie
Definitely very interesting stuff with the X Utility Prototypes and only having 1 FW @ 15*. Curious if the X Utility are as easy to hit off the deck as a FW or comparably lofted hybrid.
Good for Els! Those proto types are interesting, look kinda a chunky.
Nice bag there. Very interesting to see Ernie opt for the X Utility on a week when a lot of guys were bagging the long irons in a quest for low running shots. Might speak a bit to the versatility of these new clubs? I guess we’ll find out first on THP!
That is a very nice looking bag there. The utility clubs are interesting I’d like to see one in person. Great win for Ernie Els!
Congrats to big E. Can’t wait to see these irons/hybrids, make it happen Callaway
Can’t wait to hear about these interesting clubs!
It’s almost comical how much I want one of those utility irons. Wow. Good to hear THP will be bringing more info soon.
Those utilities look very similar to the Titleist 503H and also the Mizuno MP Fli-Hi. I think Ping had somethin a year ago that was similar. basically an Iron with a mondo supersized back on it.
You gotta think that Callaway will take a long hard look at releasing them now that he won. Great story to market around.
