Flightscope Mevo Gen2 Upgrade Features – Pro Package and Face Impact Location

Flightscope took advantage of the waning days of summer to introduce the new Mevo Gen2, positioning it as a device more substantial than the original Mevo, yet falling short of the Mevo+ in software rather than hardware.

After reviewing the Mevo Gen2, I found it to be an easy recommendation for golfers looking for a personal launch monitor. It produces accurate data, works seamlessly with the high-quality FS Golf app, and is easily portable for indoor and range use. While it was cheaper than the Mevo+ at launch, it lacked compatibility with Flightscope’s Pro Package and Face Impact Location software, which was a notable drawback for those familiar with Flightscope’s ecosystem.

However, everything changed in November when Flightscope announced a significant upgrade for the Mevo Gen 2. This upgrade allows users to add the Pro Package and the Face Impact Location software, enhancing the device’s capabilities.

The ability to independently add various software enhancements is one of Flightscope’s standout features. This capability not only showcases Flightscope’s impressive data collection for golfers, coaches, and fitters but also highlights a key advantage of the Mevo Gen2: there are no subscription fees. Each add-on has a separate cost: the Pro Package is $599, the Face Impact Location feature is $299, or you can choose a bundle for $850. Once you purchase these features, they are permanently linked to your device for future use.

Pro Package Details

Pro Package is an advanced option that enhances the capabilities of the Mevo Gen2. While Mevo Gen2 focuses on delivering 18 data points primarily centered around the ball, the Pro Package shifts the focus to club data. This allows users to gain a deeper insight into the club’s performance during the swing.

Below is a complete list of the additional 11 data points included in the Pro Package.

  • Club Path
  • Face to Path
  • Face to Target
  • Dynamic Loft
  • Vertical Swing Plane
  • Horizontal Swing Plane
  • Low Point
  • Vertical Descent Angle
  • Curve
  • Club Speed Profile
  • Club Acceleration Profile

These data points are helpful for golfers looking to better understand their swings. It’s not just about the information being captured; it’s also about how it is neatly presented in the FS Golf App, which provides a clear visual representation of what is happening. For instance, the club analysis feature allows me to view a 3D image of the swing path for a specific shot, which is very helpful. Sometimes, numbers can be confusing, so having visual representations from multiple angles is a fantastic feature.

Of all the additional data that comes with the Pro Package, my current favorite is Dynamic Loft. I freely admit that I sometimes struggle with adding too much loft at impact, which definitely hurts my distance and affects the trajectory of my shots. There’s nothing more eye-opening than using a 9° driver and seeing a dynamic loft reading close to 20°. While this isn’t ideal, it does give me something to focus on during the winter months. Here is where the Pro Package really excels: it highlights metrics that go beyond basic ball speed, launch, spin, and carry.

Face Impact Location

As the name suggests, Face Impact Location helps golfers see the precise vertical and horizontal location of their strike. This feature is useful for full swings, pitches, and chips, highlighting a club’s performance on both centered and off-center strikes.

Without any impact tape available, I compared the strike location by spraying my clubface with Gold Bond body spray. For those who haven’t tried this, it’s an effective low-cost method to get immediate feedback on where you’re making contact. In this instance, it illustrated how accurately the Mevo Gen2 tracked my face impact. The spray-on powder also proved helpful when calibrating the face impact. Within the app, it’s straightforward to adjust the strike pattern to the correct location. After completing this process, the face readings, especially with irons and wedges, were very accurate compared to my observations.

A critical factor in obtaining accurate face readings is ensuring your hitting environment is well-lit. A typical sunny day at the driving range is ideal, but indoor lighting can pose challenges depending on your circumstances. In my garage, I initially relied on an overhead LED light that I believed provided enough light. However, after noticing some inconsistencies in the face impact readings, I added another light stand to my hitting area, resulting in more consistent readings. Even with extra light, I struggled to achieve consistent strike locations with my driver

In addition to individual shots, the Face Impact Location feature integrates multiple data points into an easy-to-read Trajectory Optimizer mode. This mode utilizes average ball parameters and strike locations from all shots taken during a session to illustrate the potential outcomes of a truly optimized shot. For example, in a session where I took 15 swings with my 8-iron, the display shows the optimal smash factor, launch angle, and spin rates, along with a heat map indicating my strike pattern during that particular session.

Final Verdict

Are these add-ons worth it? My immediate reaction is a resounding yes. If you’re considering purchasing a Mevo Gen2 with the intention of using it to improve your game, it’s hard to find another device that offers this much data at such an attractive price. Anyone serious about their development, whether training independently or with a coach, can easily justify investing in these two software packages for their Mevo Gen2. From my experience, they have greatly enhanced my understanding of my swing and highlighted areas for improvement as we approach 2026.

Flightscope provides several purchasing options for the Mevo Gen2 launch monitor. Without any additional software, this launch monitor is priced at $1,299, making it an easy recommendation due to its ultra-portability and accuracy. The Pro Package is available for a one-time fee of $599, while the Face Impact Location add-on costs $299. If you choose to bundle the Mevo Gen2 with both add-ons, the total cost will be $2,149. Please note that these prices reflect Flightscope’s current holiday promotions and may have changed by the time you read this.
