Odyssey Stroke Lab Putter Thread

10 heads available 6 mallet 4 blade on the Odyssey website.

Anyone know pricepoints?

I really want/need a Stroke Lab putter.

I cant remember price points off the top of my head but i remember it not being as high as i thought. I think EXO line was $50 more. Maybe $250 and $300 for EXO.

Wow really!? That makes me very curious as to why Exo is priced higher

I believe it’s materials used in the construction, but I may be wrong.

Totally makes sense and I appreciate the responses- just blown away by the tech in the stroke lab and thought that would price it the same.

From what I saw its $250 for Odyssey stroke lab, $350 for Exo, $450 for Toulon

Man, that's fantastic! Might be able to snag one with only the cost of trading in some items. Probably will go with a blade and toe hang.

Did anyone try the stroke lab putters with a super stroke grip? Not sure i can go back to a more contoured style grip so it appears one would need to be mindful of grip weight with the counter balance nature of this tech.

Daze is correct...EXO in general uses aluminum in middle parts to get more weight to outer parts/structure to increase MOI... hopefully I didn't just butcher that tech talk. :D

EXO has always been higher priced, like a notch below high end milled putters, so it's not surprising to see it continue in this price bracket.

At this time the stock grips are all stroke lab specific because of the weight concerns, I think (no info just a guess) we’ll see some more options in the future.

"s%&t, I'll be buying a new putter, sorry credit card"

Callaway/Odyssey is all in on this new stroke lab concept and it will be offered in all their lines. During the presentation they were saying how this is the first time since the 70's the putter shaft has changed.

The new stroke lab really feels amazing. It is so effortless and easy to make a repeatable stroke. The thing just feels great. One thing i initially didnt like was the grip. It was only offered to us in two styles. Traditional pistol or oversized straight. To me the Stroke Lab grip was very slippery. After rolling this thing pretty much every night i have been home since receiving it the grip has actually started to get a lot better. It seems much more soft and not near as slippery as it did when i first had it, so beware there is a break in period with the grip in my opinion.

I did some testing of the face comparing it to other putters that i had laying around (Spider, Ping, White Hot) and this insert was by far the hottest that i tested. This was a very unscientific test but i thought someone might find that information useful.

This might be my favorite piece of gear we got at the Grandaddy. It's good and it works. Try it for yourself.

It was not an option for us but Harry had a Stoke Lab Atlanta with a Superstroke Counter core grip. So I think it can be done.

Odyssey Stroke Lab Marxman unofficially the most popular putter used by the Zoo Crew at the 2018 Grandaddy.

So guys if you can smarten me up a little more on the grip and how it plays In the overall design of the putter.

Is the weight strategically placed in the grip to obtain the results desired based on design?

Can you swap out another counter balance/counter core grip and get the same results?

The way it was presented to us is that this is a complete system. The Head, the shaft, and the grip all work together. Changing things around would vary results. I would assume if one putts a new putter grip on their stroke lab it would be a good idea to match the weight of the original grip and keep the weight plug in the shaft or use a Super Stroke with Counter Core. Same thing with putting a new head on a Stroke Lab shaft, you would want it to weigh as much as the head you are replacing otherwise it will effect the performance of the putter.

This is of course my own opinion and i could be completely wrong about that.

I am with Boder on this one. I understood the system to be about getting the head weight within a particular range, the grip weight within a particular range and for the mid section, which is the shaft, to be lightened. It made sense to me that you could change out grips as long as you Stayed in that proper weight range. I want to say the grip end was like 105 g, But I could be mistaken about that

I get that there's a unique story here, and the face insert is certainly unique, but...

If you start with a Toulon Atlanta, and you go from the stainless plate (7g) to either stainless (20g) or tungsten(40g) you're adding more weight to the head. Then superstroke counter core grips can do either 25g or 50g in the grip. Unquestionably that increases the overall weight of the club, but it seems like the results on the stroke would be similar.

FWIW I just came off the best putting year of my life with a combo like this (20g stainless weight + 50g in the grip), so I've seen what kind of difference this type of thing can make.
Right, my putter is definitely a bit of a sledgehammer, but the added weight has unquestionably improved my stroke.

And I totally get that not everyone wants to put with a sledgehammer :D

I can't imagine an improvement over what's already in my bag, but I'll still be rolling these as soon as I can anyway.

As a user of a putter with ~210g added to the "standard" headweight and ~100g added in the form of a counterweight in the butt of the shaft, I can concur that the concept is sound. I love my "sledgehammer" that I putt with.

This is one of those clubs that I immediately "clicked" with when trying it and once it got in the bag. I was fit into the Three, which makes sense because a previous putter fitting had me in the OWorks #2, which is a pretty similar setup. The Three is a bit shorter heel-to-toe and there's a little less going on when it comes to alignment aids (the OWorks had the T, versa, and an alignment line). I think I made 4 of the 5 putts when I was on the fitting system, then made a few short range putts in the fitting area. When I made my way to the putting green at the Hideaway, I think I made the first batch of putts I took. That transferred to the course the first day, where I made everything I felt I should make and snuck a few long putts in there as well. I'm a huge fan of the White Hot Microhinge vs. the previous White Hot insert. Feel like I know exactly where I hit the ball on the putter and well struck balls feel perfect to me.

One thing that I thought was really interesting was when we were trying some of the other putters in there, some of which didn't have the Stroke Lab Setup, the non-stroke lab putters just felt "off". Talking with Pete a bit on the bus, he said he felt the same way. Neither of us could put our fingers on what exactly it was, just that the putter didn't feel as good. I'm really excited Odyssey is going all in with the Stroke Lab setup as I think those that try it are going to really enjoy it.

Thanks!!

These are perfect! And it looks really good at address from the pictures. Seems to be a bit wider than the 1W from previous years and I’m a big fan of that!

Can you take a couple of pictures of the putter when you can. Interested to see the overall shape.
