2019 Grandaddy of em All Event with Callaway Golf

i can feel the excitement and anticipation for what is to come.

Just imagine how it will feel once you get that email with flight info...we were all like kids in grade school getting our schedules...

"when's your flight? what time?"
"dude you're on my flight!!"

Maybe just a bit of wheedling to get on a flight with our teammates. ?

there's been a lot of wishful thinking that some of us may be on the same flights. our resident flight plan specialist @tomcat has been trying to make it work haha. here's a live look

health, work and life got in the way of me working out and playing golf. it's been a month since i've worked out and 3 weeks since i've made a full swing. i'm hoping to get back to both this week.

honestly, i still have work to do. i don't think my game is going to be where i wanted it. that's disappointing, but whatever, it won't take away from the experience. i've had so much fun getting to know the team, and i'm excited to bring content to this community.

we are so close, it's shocking. i can still feel the excitement from when i read that magical private message. and i can still feel the excitement every time i found out who the next team member would be. now, as we are so close, i can feel the excitement and anticipation for what is to come.

I hear rounds with a friend of yours might go a long way in getting you ready..

I thought the sand was fantastic. Exact same conditions on every hole. Nice and fluffy. Well, technically it was crushed marble.....

I thought it was. Thought I was crazy, but now I know I'm not...well, at least on this aspect hahaha

Seems like you better bring that 3* driver, so you guys can fill us in on just how exotic Chris is going to need to get during his fitting.

No sir, I have that work thing that's in the way. Morgan also denied my babysitting requests. She even responded to a text with, "new phone, who dis?"

Sloppy round the other day, front 9 was a trainwreck back was 9 was much better. I’ve decided on quick list to focus on until the courses close this year.

1) Focus on shots vs scores.
2) you can’t bump and run. Stop trying.
3) If the backswing doesn’t feel akward, then your gonna slice it.
3) shoulder turn shoulder turn shoulder turn
4) club up, choke down.
5) trust the wedge and swing it Alice

To the Grandaddy alumni and current teammates- what was it like explaining what the Grandaddy is about to your friends and family How did they react?
It was interesting To say the least. My boss at the time was a golfer, he was pretty blown away. My wife knew about The Grandaddy, from hearing me talk about it. She was very excited for me.

my wife is excited for me. she knows how big of a deal this is.

most other people say “how did you get to do this?” or “i want to do it where do i sign up?” i want to tell them that it’s not that easy, but amazingly it is.

Most people have a hard time comprehending that such an incredible thing even exists. The people that get past that are just full fledged mind blown...as they should be. And my wife still works in an occasional Tom Watson phone call reference if something funny happens with a call.

Along the lines of what everyone else has said, I've had sort of a spectrum of reaction. Most seem to fall into one of three categories.

1. My wife, uncle (who is my regular golf partner), and close friends understand how big the Grandaddy really is and are pumped for me.

2. Some others who seem to get it are incredulous and have asked how they can get in on these type of events. They usually can't believe it's as easy as joining THP, but I've certainly told them they should do it.

3. And then there's a group that seems to conceptually understand what I'm telling them and how great it is in theory, but can't quite comprehend that's it's 100% true, I don't think.

All sorts of reactions. Some people thought it was a scam, lol. Most things that sound too good to be true, are. This is one of those rare ones that is too good to be true and 100 percent legit.

Lots of family and friends were happy for me. People in my golf league asked me to tell some part of the story at least every other week, for a few years.

As I reflect back, I realize that many of them were impressed or in disbelief, for one reason or another but they really don’t even “get it”. Probably because it really can’t be described. Heck, I don’t think I totally got it until after it was over.

Explaining to my wife what #TheGrandaddy is all about and how excited I was she said that I was more excited about this event than I had been about marrying her! I told her that was definitely not the case. Alright! So I lied!

Golfers would just shake their heads in disbelief or those in my regular group were only interested in what I was going to bring back for them!

I think my favorite part was when my parents would tell people about the event and suddenly I'm getting questions from people in my hometown that I haven't talked to in years. They were super excited for me and seemed like they told as many people as I did. I still get a huge grin on my face anytime I get the chance to talk about it.

39 days. holy crap we are in the 30s......

Blows the mind that it's that close. I joined the team back in July, and I blinked a couple of times and here we are.

Just another day closer to the greatest event conceived.

My wife and parents were skeptical at first, mainly because I never told them about The Grandaddy in the past so to them this was brand new and something I just happened to win online. After explaining the history and showing threads from previous years, they started to get it a little bit more. Told a few friends too, all were mainly jealous about having access to clubs before the public even knows about them, but were shocked when they heard we got them made for us in a day, then being able to take them home.
