THIS IS A PRESS RELEASE
PING introduces G410 drivers with movable-weight technology

PHOENIX (January 21, 2019): Significant advancements in custom fitting while delivering golfers the highest MOI’s and ball speeds available highlight the new PING G410 Plus and G410 SFT drivers. The multi-material drivers are available for pre-order today, and custom fitting at authorized PING golf shops around the world beginning in mid February.

“We’ve continued to increase both forgiveness and distance in the G410 Plus driver while adding more dimensions to driver custom fitting,” said John K. Solheim, PING President. Our new, movable-weight technology provides the benefits of custom CG locations, including directional control, without sacrificing MOI or ball speeds, which is what we’ve always seen with other non-fixed-weight drivers. The G410 Plus offers golfers a simple, logical way to customize their driver and allows them to swing away on the tee box without fear of missing the fairway. It puts tour-level fitting into the golfer’s hands. We’ve also expanded the loft and lie options with a new eight-setting, lightweight hosel that further fine-tunes ball flight.”

Custom CG locations
In the G410 Plus model, three positions (Draw, Neutral, Fade) for the ultra-high density tungsten back weight shift the center of gravity (CG) location by 1/10" in each direction from neutral to influence left or right shot direction approximately 10 yards (20 yards of correction between Draw and Fade settings). By positioning the weight on the extreme boundary of the clubhead, the moment of inertia increases compared to the original G400 driver – ensuring golfers enjoy the added ball speed and forgiveness required to hit their tee shots longer and straighter.

“Our engineering team took on the challenge of advancing driver fitting through custom CG locations without compromising the key attributes that ensure performance,” said Solheim. “It’s amazing how they’ve been able to deliver this new fitting element while also improving ball speed and MOI. The movable-weight technology clearly demonstrates the effects on shot shape and the ability to dial in your desired ball flight. We simplified the use of the technology by offering only three positions so golfers can easily see the benefit of the movable weight. This additional fitting element optimizes a golfer’s trajectory – meaning they’ll consistently be farther and straighter down the fairway than ever before.”

The G410 SFT (Straight Flight Technology) model is engineered with a fixed ultra-high density tungsten weight positioned on the clubhead’s extreme perimeter and 50% more heel-side CG than its predecessor to ensure straighter ball flights. A lighter swingweight (D1) further influences direction by helping square the face at impact.

“There is still a large segment of golfers who will play better with a driver completely optimized for performance with the benefit of maximum fade correction,” Solheim added. “When we pioneered Straight Flight Technology several years ago, we wanted to provide a ‘slice-fixing’ driver without adding huge offset or just closing the face. The G410 SFT sits visually square at address and delivers all the performance benefits of the G410 Plus while ensuring a consistently straight ball flight.”

Dragonfly Technology Inside
A new “creased crown” design provides stiffening properties and combines with patented Dragonfly Technology on the inside to create an ultra-thin crown structure, which saves weight for optimizing the CG location and increasing forgiveness. Together with more aggressive and efficient Turbulator Technology, the 455cc head’s crown design provides a clean, powerful and faster look at address while making alignment nearly effortless.

Forged, T9S+ Face
The unique forging and patented heat-treatment process of the T9S+ face powers a thinner, hotter impact area that is precision machined to elevate ball speed across the entire face for more flexing and faster ball speeds. The forged face and the internal geometry of the head are instrumental in producing the powerful feel and sound of the driver.

Trajectory Tuning 2.0
The new, patented lightweight and aerodynamic adjustable hosel expands from five to eight settings, offering loft (0, +1⁰, +1.5⁰, -1⁰, -1.5⁰) and lie adjustments (including up to 3⁰ flatter than standard) to optimize ball flight.

“The expansion of the loft options is a tremendous benefit for all golfers who can now further optimize their launch conditions, including increasing ball speed, with the guidance of a club fitter or through their own experimentation,” said Solheim. “The lie angle fitting option adds another layer of opportunity for expert club fitters to really fine-tune a golfer’s driver performance based on a more detailed analysis of their ball flight and launch conditions.”

New Counter-Balanced Shaft Technology
Continuing PING’s commitment to optimizing the entire club system, the engineering team developed the next generation of the Alta CB (counter balanced) shaft as the proprietary option in the G410 driver. The higher-launching, lightweight Alta CB Red 55 is engineered with an eight-gram counterweight in the grip end of the shaft, shifting the CG higher and allowing for more head weight to increase energy transfer and momentum – resulting in more ball speed and greater forgiveness. The high-performance PING Tour 65 & 75 (lower launch, low spin, stable feel), Project X EvenFlow Black 75 (low launch, low spin) and Mitsubishi Tensei™ CK Orange 60 (mid-launch angle, low spin) are available at no upcharge and ensure a shaft-fitting option to match the launch conditions of all golfers.

An adjustable PING driver. Who knew? The expanded hosel adjustability is intriguing. Will be interesting to see whether they make a point of comparing MOI for these clubs to the G400 series.

Hopefully they're able to carry over the success that the G400 saw.

That is a good looking driver!! I like the idea of being able to move the weight around. Red is my favorite color so that works for me.

Interesting and pricey!!!

Gotta admit, as a LOVER of the 400 and 400 Max....this visually isn't doing anything for me.

At all.

Would still like to see them in hand, of course.

i should have bought the g400 back in 2017 when i tested it in a fitting, it was just so automatic. now i have the max and i love it.

the colors and graphics on the sole aren't very appealing to me. and maybe i'm in the minority here, but 3 fixed positions for moving weight does not seem like a technological advancement, when you have other companies offering exponentially more customization. i don't find this very exciting.

is there any data out there that can quantify losses in ball speeds and/or moi in other competitors' drivers when weights are moved around? it sounds great that ping has figured out a way to retain speed and forgiveness when moving weight, but i would like to know the extent to which other drivers lag behind here.

based on what i'm seeing and reading, i don't think this one is in the running for my bag.

I agree that the G400 looks a lot better to me. Something about the aesthetics of this one is turning me off, and I don't know what it is. The busy crown on PING drivers has never bothered me, so it's not that.

I'm sure its fantastic, but based on looks... its a no for me.

Looking forward to giving this series a shot

2018 continues to be a stellar year for new drivers, got a lot of testing to do!

These new Ping drivers look good given success of prior, they should be a must test if looking for new driver in 2019.

Driver seemed a little "Loud"

Nope, me either. Its a sole thing here for me.

Now, I want to hit it, but, its not one I'm pre-ordering like I did the G400.

I don't know what's causing me to think this way, but it looks like it came out of the Tommy Armour Rack at a Dick's or something. Maybe "unrefined" is a way to describe it? The track at the back I don't like the design of either.

can't wait for the g420 to come out with a fully adjustable slider and a stash pocket

I prefer the looks of this one over the 400

5mm+ of left/right CG adjustability is huge

So hard to keep one upping yourself. I know some dont love it but I think it will be what we expect. A killer club.

I fully expect this to be a very good performing driver. The movable weight, while not innovative, is extremely out on the periphery of the club. I can see the adjustments making a very real difference in ball flight. Also, I like the stock shaft length for aftermarket and tour options at 45.25".

The look is not ideal, but not off putting either. Looks like something I'd be able to game easily.

Ping had its hands full improving on the G400. I think they did a pretty good job overall.

It's kind of a wash for me visually compared to the previous model. There are some changes I like and some I don't but it's nice to see Ping jumping in to the adjustability game a little deeper. I'm really looking forward to seeing how numbers compare to the G400 for those that test it.

What's funny is I skipped the 400 series because the look wasn't doing anything for me =). I like the look of the 410 a lot (I guess I like red)

Same thing for me looks wise.

The adjustments actually make sense to me, most people I’ve seen have the weights set in the heel, toe, or center anyway so 3 positions makes sense to me.

As a huge fan of Ping, I think they took a step back in aesthetics with the 410 driver & irons. Good thing my bag is set for 2019, maybe next year Ping.

I could have sworn there was a major OEM talking about how their data says that the vast majority of adjustable driver users have the weights in their extreme positions

I think the crown looks fine. Better than what the last two releases have looked like at that position. The sole is boring. As a fan of the g400 line, I'm sure I'll give it a hit at some point.
