I’’m still torn on what shaft I want to use for these. I have the 780 F3 SMACWRAP in my irons but Cleveland only offers that in the F4. I don’t think I want to go stiffer. That basically brings me to staying with the stock Rotex or the Recoil 95 which would the slightly heavier and I could go F3 in that or even F2 if I want them to play softer.

Anyone know the specific differences between the 95 and the Rotex since both are UST made? I’m guessing the 95 will be a softer tip while being 5g more. I would be getting a 54 and 58 with the majority of its use being for chipping within 20 yards of the green.

Try the HI-REV in a Regular Flex, Gives you the weight and eases up on the flex. It's a $30 upgrade.

Hope to hit these at Carl’s today

Just a note about graphite shafts. While weight in steel correlates directly to stiffness, that is not necessarily the case with graphite. A shaft can be lighter, but still stiffer as the two things are controlled independently.

I think that’s why I’m curious about the difference. The Recoil 95 specs indicate that it has a softer tip at 96g. The Rotex is around 90g but there is no published information I can find about the profile on them other than the fact they come in wedge flex. Maybe I’m wrong but I assume UST defines the wedge flex as between a regular and stiff flex. So I’m assuming that the Recoil 95 in F3 will be slightly heavier but softer flex based what I’ve seen.

Since the 780 Recoil I have should be around 82g, both shafts will be slightly heavier but I’d like to understand the flex profile for chipping in relation. I’ve not had experience with the 95 in a wedge so I’m curious how they compare to each other.

This is oft overlooked.

I really want to get some 95 F5's for this very reason.

Wedge flex is not really between stiff and regular, but its owned designated flex. It was done because shaft lengths in wedges are shorter, and therefore with steel shafts, played rather stiff.
In my opinion, the Recoil 95s play MUCH stiffer than the Rotex, which plays light to flex.

I remember you being this excited on the EX10 beta 3W and that was a true winner.
Going to order a CBX2 56* today.

I need to just order a 48/54 already.

I'm just waiting to receive my RBG credits, and then that is precisely what I'm ordering.

In that event, it seems like I should stay with the Rotex. I’ve been pretty content with them but I’m still in the process of learning what I like. Based on your feedback, I don’t believe the 95 will be what I would want if they tend to play stiffer. I never felt the Rotex was whippy but they have served me well so far and I definitely don’t want anything stiffer.

James I really enjoyed this review. I enjoyed the heck out of my time with the original CBX 50. I found it versatile enough for a 50, it allowed me to open the face enough to be able to hit comfortably out of bunkers and definitely worked around the greens. Sounds pretty damn similar to what you say with the 52. Go order more lofts because I'm dying for more thoughts.

I've been messing with shaft options the past hour, hahaha

Really, 48/54 w/ the DG TI S400 would be the ticket, and flow into my 60 Xlow perfectly.

I admittedly really want some time with the LW in these too though.

Should I just order a full set? Could make for a hell of a little extended-time feedback session on the versatility!

Yesterday I did a side be side comparison with my 2012 Mizuno MP-R12 forged 50 blade wedge vs CBX2 48 - using Oncore Elixr lime green balls, I hit 100 shots each on a chipping area that is in rough shape due to a renovation in process. I shot multiple lies, lines, no grass, in pockets next to clumps of grass and even some very simple & perfect locations...

But first: I wanted to get a wedge that more fits my style of golf. I don't get a chance to play as much as I would like. While the R12 is "Club Porn" as far as looks, if I don't keep up with practice it is difficult to just pick up play. Hence I have started the process to upgrade my full bag with 2019 highest rated game improvement / MOI type of clubs available. I found the CBX after looking for the most forgiving wedges, why not go with the most winning-est wedge company to date. I patiently waited for the CBX2 line to come out and picked up a 48 & 60 so far with a 54 once they are released, all with steel True Temper 115 wedge shaft.

MP12: ~50% of the shots where hit flush near the middle of the club and had the desired outcome: they made it onto the green somewhere. When hit perfect, there is nothing like the feel. The other 50% where thin, fat or toe shots with a few bad shanks. Balls where all over the place.

CBX2 48: I did not know what to expect, I wanted to jump in cold with this club never having hit it with a ball in front of it as of yet. Starting with this club would be more realistic case scenario then warming up with the MP-R12. I was pleasantly surprised how you can't tell what is behind the club as it looked just a blade from above. First few shot where alignment & feel from the fringe. This club is effortless from the fringe, all the shots had a nice predicable roll out. The old adage that a cast club cannot feel as good as a forged is gone, butter smooth with a very similar sound. I started to get a feel for the club and it was able to handle everything I threw at it. So I looked for worst case scenarios: upward lie, up against a clump of grass, on dirt. Getting the distance was a little tricky in those situations, but everything I threw at this club it was able to handle with ease. Is this even possible? Approximately 85% of the balls laded on the green, I had 1 shank, 3 blades and no fat shots at all. It was more about learning distance control with the club then anything else and that didn't seem to be a bad issue to have as its a personal problem more then anything. Our Club Pro gave it a try, on his second shot hit the cup and rimmed it out about 3 inches!

The best part of all. I hit low on the flag pole 3 times, rolled over the cup edge 4 times and the pic was the final landing spot for my last shot.

Every once in a while I would try a club and it was very easy to hit, but it was not what was on tour, or was not appealing to the eye or not what my playing mates where gaming: so I would just dismissed it as a fun club to hit. But as I've gotten older, I know I need all the help I can get with my game. If I had this knowledge now, I would have dropped the ego and put that club in my bag. I most likely would have enjoyed the game more and had better scores! The CBX2 wedge is one of those clubs. These wedges are just so easy to hit, I don't know why anyone wouldn't at least give them a try as well. I'm 100% in and looking forward to the years of enjoyment and lower scores to come....

Just noticed with these you can now custom order with 5 character initials instead of 3.

And custom colors as well! The red is just not pleasant to the eye for me.

48/54/60, going to bend and shaft to match my RTX4 then do some side by side work. Will make for a fun long term article I think!

S400 TI’s acquired to match my RTX4’s!

I heard that pre orders should start shipping early next week! Can't wait for my 54 to arrive.

I'm excited to hear your thoughts on the 60. I've held off on ordering a RTX-4 because the CBX 2 intrigues me.
