Ooops, Sorry Doc. didn't see this until now.

Haha I think Pebble Beach would be amazing for this Classic but out of price range for a lot of people. That'd be amazing though.

We are going back to Central California. LP in Lompoc and Monarch in Nipomo (Santa Maria).
Most likely going to be in November but that's unsure at this point. Come join us! It shall be a glorious weekend and working hard to keep the Trophy down here in the South!
Just need dates to block schedule ASAP.

What's up everybody? Has NorCal figured out a captain yet? My November is getting increasingly busy but is still workable for the right dates. Is everyone else still feeling November or are we thinking possibly Spring time?

You rang!

So my NorCal brethren, what is the word?

I don't know how it works for everyone else, but the 2nd weekend of October (12/13th) would be about perfect for me.

Anyone feel like making the call and getting this sucker locked down? As always I can reach out to the courses and get that squared away.

We definitely need to get the dates locked down soon. We still thinking November?

I am beginning to think most have check out on doing this which kind of sucks. I think some of the NorCalers have moved on to other things in their lives as their activity as been either slim or non-existent. I am always up for meeting up and playing. Whether it be in Norcal or Socal. Road Trips don't intimidate me in the slightest. Maybe we make this into a modified version of what we have done in the past. Maybe we can get 2 groups of 4. Maybe a little 2 man teams. If need be, one on one.

I sure hope that this isn't the case. I've been extremely busy and haven't checked in much lately. BTW, when did they do the forum UI update? It's pretty cool!

If it comes down to it I'll rep Norte and since you're too close to the state dividing line you'll rep SoCal. Since we want to keep Jocko's in the mix I'll take Monarch Dunes. Which course do you want to play on Saturday?

Well damn... I'll miss you guys this year. Maybe this will make a nice comeback in 2020.

As most of you know, I have zero quarrels with driving North and South to hang out.

I'm wondering if maybe we should try for Spring 2020?

If I can make an event/get together/round I will do so. Part of my thinking with doing away w/ North v South and calling it the Cali classic was that if we have uneven numbers (which we have had very lopsided turnout that last couple of these) we can change up the format and do whatever we want for whoever/however many come. If we want to set some sort of a date as a target I know there are a few of us that will help line things up all over this state.

I agree with this approach. While it has been a treat having the gathering in my backyard, the truth is, it’s a long drive for everyone but Schanker and I. There are so many fantastic courses both north and south, let’s branch out.

I propose we keep this an annual event and alternate north/south and explore some new courses that many haven’t played before. And if we want to come back to the Central Coast for some Jockos, we throw that in as a wild card.

So the question would be where and when to start?

We can try to aim towards the Spring of 2020. Up North.

Well.... that is kind of what we tried to the last couple years. We did it down in Paso and had very few southern folks make it (and honestly pretty poor turnout overall) then went to the Palm Desert for So Cal (with actually really good turnout overall) but very few folks from the North heading south.

So the thought was take it back to its roots in Central cali (best and most even turnout out was when we played La Purisima and Monarch Dunes). But obviously that hasn't turned into a whole lot of action.

North/South/Central, I think we need to a) pick a weekend and b) pick a Location. Northern California has some great courses but... Monterey is expensive as ****, which may limit who/how many can make it, the Bay area is slightly less expensive, but still very much so. Tahoe is wonderful, but also expensive and limited in the time of year.....

Part of me thinks go to Sacramento, play Yocha Dehe plus one of the other good courses in the area (and possible a third for those that can swing it). Makes it so for those that are coming from south they can fly in, can find houses, hotels or even stay at the casino for those interested in that.

Anyway, just thinking of what bogs people down from being able to participate and time/money usually are the limiting factors for most of us. There will never be a weekend that works for everyone, but the sooner we pick one and get people committed on their calendars the better chance we have of participation.
