The Official Tiger Woods Thread

For his entire career? And how much of a teacher was he to Jack? Was he at every tournament, or just see him once in a while.

how much of a teacher was he....I guess you'd have to ask Jack that. Was he at every tournament? No, but I'd be willing to say that neither are today's coaches. But the coaching environment has certainly changed since Jack's days and their presence is more common.

As expected, the plaintiff voluntarily dismissed Tiger as a defendant in the wrongful death case. He should not have been named personally in the first place.

possible putter change this week, he has weights in a np2

We've seen him change for Opens because of the slower green speeds, so it wouldn't shock me.

Does he go to a slightly heavier or lighter headweight?

Pretty sure its heavier, I think his regular putter is pretty light relative to typical weights.

Tiger also added a P790 UDI 2i this week.

It's been out there for forever that his stainless ScoScot is light like his old Anser.2. Pick up an old stainless Anser.2 to get idea

And Tiger states publicly that his game is not where he wants it or it should be heading into this. Look out folks, this could go either way!

I believe Tiger's long time custom Cameron putter has a head weight of 322 grams. Throughout the years, when playing a tournament with slower greens, he Tiger has added some strips of lead tape to the sole.
If he is now playing a Cameron putter with weight screws, my guess is that the putter is 320 with no weights, and 330 grams with two 5 gram weights installed.

Should have never tampered with it. Probably would have won 3-5 more majors.

Did Jack have a "swing coach"? I guess Jack Grout?

When Jack was about ten years old he took up golf and started started taking lessons from Jack Grout, who taught him a fundamentally sound grip-posture-alignment. The only "swing thought" Jack used was Grout's teaching that all golf shots should be played by swinging around a steady head (no lateral movement). In fact Grout's assistant would place his hand on Nicklaus's head while he hit range balls.
Once Nicklaus turned pro Grout would attend some tournaments, but always sit in the stands rather than stand on the range. For green side chipping, pitching , and bunker play help Nicklaus spent off season time with short game specialist Phil Rodgers.

Looks like Tiger will skip WGC
Am I missing something or did he play only one non-major event since the Masters?
Currently 23rd in standings I believe, going to have to fare well in playoffs to play in Championship.

Based on the quotes I've read from him recently it really doesn't sound like he cares too much. I have a feeling he's only going to get amped up for a very select few tournaments during the rest of his career.

Yup. If you can't get amped for WGC, its only going to be a select few I guess.
Vacation from Vacation, sounds like a lot of parents I know.

I said it somewhere after the new schedule got announced that I didn't think he (and others) might skip it based on it being the week after The Open. Therefore it's not really shocking to me. Like Tiger though, I've lost some interest in the tour post Masters. The buildup to it was great, but since then all of these non-major events have really failed to capture my attention, and I wasn't really that guy in the past.

I feel the same way. After this event is over my interest in watching golf is going to go down significantly.

I still watch, just because I like watching golf if I'm just sitting around, but I don't really care who does what. I like the playoffs because of the pressure on the guys trying to make it to the next event, but there's only a handful of guys I root for. If any of them are near the top, I may check my phone while I'm playing golf myself, but that's about it.

Tiger looked old this week. There’s a saying that Father Time is undefeated and I get the sense he’s closing in on calling it quits. His post round comments said something like “I just want to go home” and the old tiger would be chomping at the bit to get back out there.

I hope he has a few more in him, but if he doesn’t I’m so glad I got to watch arguably the best golfer ever and one that elevated his sport like no other.

Being a fanboy I hoped he would win all 4 majors, but of course that is silly in this age of power golfers. The fact he got one this year is still amazing and good luck to him for what ever else he enters.
