You know you're not making par if...

You hit your tee shot and the words, "No! No! No! No!" come out of your mouth.

Were you watching me on the course today?

Your ball comes back to your feet.

You pull out your last sleeve of balls...and it's empty.

You realize you just hit someone else's ball.

Your ball is in thigh-high fescue...on a par 3.

Your approach shot landed against the steep wall in a pot bunker.

Sounds like a solid challenge for a short par 4 or par 5.

Short par 5s. I'm either making birdie or triple.

You immediately ask "Does it open up over there?"

I know i'm not making par if:

I'm standing on the tee box of a par 3

A wise man once said, "Whether you think you can or think you can't, you're right."

Standing over a key shot on a hole, the brain starts to play one of those doubt thoughts and all the meditation, yoga, somatic experiencing, and performance psychology work in the world can't shake it. Par-no-go.

Usually if I yell some explicatives that you probably have never heard before after a tee shot. Most likely I didn't like it & it's going to be a long hole

Did it on my first try somehow. Bunt driver 20 yards, chip 5 wood barely behind front tees. Smoked 3 wood to 160, hit to 15 feet and made put. Honestly thought it would take me 10 tries or more.

... I end up in the no-man's land between chipping distance to the green and a LW 3/4-swing. I enjoy chipping. I can put a nice full or near-full swing on the LW. But between those ... when what's required is a half, or *shudder* quarter swing with the lob wedge? I'm dead. I know I'm going to shank it 500y past the green. I often contemplate hammering it with the putter instead of pulling the LW.

[Reading this, maybe I should just practice more half-swings with the LW ...]

You hear your ball hitting someone's house; followed by the sound of breaking glass

My drive lands in the middle of the fairway and I have a great look at a GIR

I can’t see the pin from the tee box. Blind dogleg.
