Practice Swings, necessary or no?

I take one practice swing before every shot and putt. That is my pre-shot routine. One of the guys I play with takes no practice swings but taps the ground with his club several times and takes several waggles before pulling the trigger. To each his own.

i tend to play better when I take one or two practice swings before I step up and hit the ball. Chip shots or feel shots around the green usually get several to groove a good tempo and turf interaction

Not a full one; I might waste a good swing.

I will take 2 or 3 practice chips to get a feel for what I want to do on the shot.

I like 2 practice putts for the same reason.

Wish I had faith in my shot to just step up and swing. Very infrequently do I do it...typically it's after I spray one, get mad, re-tee and just rip it.

It's a mental thing now, just to practise swing as part of my pre-routine. Would love to be comfortable enough to get rid of it though.
