Had to change my Avatar, guys. I couldn't stand looking at Will Ferrell's face anymore.

+1 rep for anyone who can guess who that is

(sorry, bored today)

Maynard?

+1 for Harry, even though I have NO confidence you know who Maynard is

I'll bite. No one expects me to know this stuff anyway.

Ha! I just googled 'Maynard' and he's the first link (to wikipedia).

Maynard James Keenan is the lead singer of the group Tool. His latest venture is winemaking and he owns Merkin Vineyards and Caduceus Cellars in Arizona (for any of you who drink wine).

I just really liked the pose and colors in that image. Plus Maynard is the MAN!

Riiiiiigghhhht. I just pulled "Maynard" out of my arse.

I thought maybe the image filename was visible or something (since it was maynard.jpg), but I now see that isn't the case.

Mad props, Sir Longshanks! :chicken: (closest I could find to Maynard's mohawk)

Thought I'd revitalize this one. So the screen name isn't so much a screen name as an accurate description. The current avitar is a picture of a Candian mounty (actually, I don't think he's a Mounty, but some other form of law enforcement native to Canada) in a nice pair of Reno 911 shorts bear tackling a huge, former Marine who does PT on the tour and was trying to spray Champaign on the underdog victor of the Canadian Open. The marine took it in stride, even though I believe he was slightly injured as a result of the episode.

i went to the ryder cup this year, at which i got to talk to/meet anthony kim for a little bit. he is the nicest young tour pro i have met. really cool too cuz he isn't too much older than i am, which allowed us to really relate on experiences. he is my favorite golfer, and if i had to pick one person to be like if i make it on tour, it is ak

w_s_e,

I saw that when the tournament was broadcast, and it was HILARIOUS!

That guy, Jim Weathers, is a somewhat famous trainer on the Tour and is huge. The mountie clearly had no idea that he was a member of the Chez Reavie's entourage, and Weathers never saw the tackle coming.

The avatar I've been using lately is "Ripsqueak" and it's an artpiece I got in Carmel, CA while we were out there for a Pebble Beach wedding in September. I'll post a pic since I'll likely change it again!

I didn't see the coverage either. What gives with the mountie?? Was Jim Weathers (or his conduct) that obscure that the mountie couldn't work out that he wasn't a spectator? Without seeing the footage, maybe it was a freak combination of circumstances that caused it but geez it looks sus. It looks like the mountie had a 'roid rage attack & snapped.

Nah, it was totally understandable. Weathers came from under the rope line and lunged at Reavie (he was going to spray Reavie with champagne). It happened fast and looked pretty suspicious.

Initial reports were that Weathers laughed off the incident, but according to a subsequent article, his injury wasn't such a laughing matter. I'll probably switch avatars once I find a fitting substitute:

Great Pic!!! It is comforting for the players at least to know that the Security does work, even though he did get fairly close to the Player before the WWE takedown.

My avatar is one of the stock ones here at THP, username has a double meaning as far as Golf and Computers are concerned.

I wanted to revive this thread so that some of our new members could tell us a little more about them.

My username is pretty self explanitory but the 22 is for my birthday. I am not very techy so I just picked one of the first avatars I found that was a female.

Hammer is my nickname from when I raced bicycles. They call me "the hammer".
The 84 is from my high school grad year.

My avatar is me playing my PRS with my old band at a local bar.

"Bakemono" means, "monster" in Japanese. Its a term that comes from Japanese folklore and it is a term that refers to supernatural being such as ghost and monsters. The literal translation is, "a being that has been twisted, distorted or mutated to the point of being in an unnatural state.
I first started using it when I posted on some motocross forums, because it was a sort of alter ego for me.
Im normally a pretty nice, laid back kinda guy but when it was race time and I put the helmet on, I was all about personal glory for myself and would think nothing of knock another rider out of the way if they stood between me and winning.
Im kind of the same when Im on the golf course. Im not much for conversation and Im all business from the moment I tee off on the first hole to when I sink my putt on the final hole.
Ive had an interest in Japanese culture most of my life and over the course of learning to speak Japanese and studying Japanese culture its something I stumbled across.
As far as my avatar, its the Mizuno logo. What can I say, I always heard great things about Mizuno clubs, but I always played Titleist. When I learned that Mizuno was Japanese, I decided to give them a shot and Ive been very, very happy with them. It started out with a Mizuno MP Fli-Hi hybrid and its grown to a full set of Mizunos. All I can say is thank God for Ebay, because I would have never been able to afford to switch my set over this quick if I hadnt bought used.

Glad you resurrected this thread JB- interesting reading.

I used to admire Ping irons back in the day (never owned any) and thinking about that just reminded me of a book I enjoyed some years ago in which the main character would always try to spit on insects. Whenever he hit one he would always say he "Pinged him on the dome." Just struck me as a funny name- even though the only Ping club I currently own is an iWi Anser putter.

The avatar just popped up while googling golf images for an avatar- but I'll soon be 59 and have white whiskers (only a goatee) so it's probably not TOO unlike me- other than the tweeds of course.
