Anyone gaming the G425 irons ? Setup ?

I have a set in from globals U Try it program with Alta Cb shafts.
Only a range sesh and 9 holes so far but shot even par which is my best 9 this year. Hit 4-7 GIR with them with one miss being on the fringe. So far very happy with the trial.

Very easy swinging and seem to launch easy. What I noticed most is how the ball seems to just hold its line. Maybe a hint of draw or fade if you call for it but no real egregious hooks or slices.

I’ve been struggling with my iron play this season and these might be in the running to help there.

Made an appointment with the fitting shop to help me dial in some settings with the SFT. Going to throw this one back in the bag for a few rounds.

Picked up my 425 iron set today. Fitting was 2 weeks ago so lead times are pretty good with Ping. Here’s my current bag setup.

What shaft did you go with ?

I got fitted with the stock Alta CB in red dot standard length. Was getting better numbers on them with my sloooow swing lol. Tried a bunch of shafts as well as steel.
Nice. I went Alta slate too in my set. Didn’t get fitted. Instead did the global golf u try it for two weeks and was sold. Ordered me a 6-UW set.

The LST has put down some really good drives for me this season, especially since getting that adjustment (turned down to 9.5*, weight in heel side). I would like to explore some shafts for it in the off-season as the Alta feels a little wooden.

Have 5 rds now logged with my G425 irons.
Small sample but like how the GIR numbers are trending (below).
Also my scoring avg is down 2.4 strokes over my season avg.

big jump in the 6-8 range.

G425 driver may not be the longest I have ever had, but it is the best combination of long and forgiving I have ever hit.

Yep, I start with a 6 in irons and that club is usually my achilles heel. I am only 5' 4" so a std 6i shaft length (pretty much 38" these days) is usually a bit long for me. If I shorten it then I lose gapping with my 7i. Also with today's modern lofts I struggle sometimes to launch the 6i. With the G425's I went 'retro spec" so its 28* like my i200 6i which is power spec'd to 28*. So far I like what I am seeing with the G425's. I have tried and tried to get me some Gs in the bag...owned G25's and G 2016's but they never stuck. These ones seem to be the real deal for me.

So far for me the G425 Max has been the longest driver (P avg) I have logged in Shot Scope.
Last year's data when I was doing driver testing shook out:
G425 - 244 yds
Mavrik - 238
Speedzone Xtreme - 234
Epic Flash - 228

So far this year I am at a 239 season avg with it but the last 5 rds (weather finally dried out) it has crept back up to a 244 avg which I will take anyday for a 90 mph swing.

My buddy just bought a Sim2 Max and I hit his along side my Ping a few times on the course last week and they were pretty much equal distance (usually within 1-2 yds of each other) but the Ping was easier to control.

is there a thread for the fairways?

Driver continues to be a good performer for me. Still want to try some new drivers when they come out, but will be hard to beat the performance of the Max.

G425 irons continue to work for me. My only regret (I think is going with the retro specs). I think they launch high enough to where I probably could have got by with std lofts.
I was looking at my stats and the 6i-8i really keep producing for me compared to my i200 irons. But in the 9i-wedges with them being 2* weaker I need to start pulling an extra club as they tend to fly really high and come up short. Once I get the yardaged dialed in I should be good to go. Or maybe once the i230's come out, I do a combo set...i230's in the 9-UW (hmmmm)

Missed 2 fairways today and both where playable. Had several drives in the 240-245 range today which is long for me.

What shaft and flex you playing ?

The stock Alta 55R.
Have you tried the orange Tensei Raw 55R option ?
That’s what I’ve been gaming. I’m showing the same distance as you in Shot Scope.

Have not, the stock shaft has been pretty good to me.

Did some testing on Trackman Range yesterday with my G425 Max driver. 10.5* head. Ordered a new shaft (GD Tour AD MJ 5R) but its going back as my gamer (Tensei Orange 55R) beat it out. Heads were set to optimal for me.

Tensei Orange AV Raw 55R - Head set to small + / Weight middle

Graphite Design Tour AD MJ 5-R - set to large + / Weight fade
CarryTotalBallHeight (ft)Launch
Avg209.8240.6131.172.615.5

I'll take the numbers for a measly 88-91mph (maybe 92mph tops swing).
That Tensei and I just gel'd ever since that first swing back in Sept 2021 with it.

Hit all 14 fairways today with the G425. Unless I could pick up a good amount of yardage, (15 or more yards) just don't see a reason to move away from this driver. To solid and forgiving right now.
