It's not fun to watch on television when he's not being shown. \
For some. I dont think everybody feels the same way. Lots of golf fans out there.

People here may not be affected but wait till you see the ratings plummet. This isn't good for golf right now.
I tore my left ACL, same as Tiger, it's a daunting recovery process. I wonder if it will come out what the injury really is. Why keep that guarded?
I'm not a fan of anyone hacking it around the course and especially someone who did not appear to care to be there. No one wants to see that.
Tiger can just take the year off and I will not miss a beat watching my golf on TV. Still watch every tournament because I am a golf fan, not player specific fan.

Out of curiosity, what are the ratings like with Tiger as opposed to without Tiger? I imagine they drop quite a bit, but I have not seen that in writing. I know golf has its hard core fans who will watch either way, but its a business, it needs Tiger to be there to generate more viewers, get more ad revenue etc. I just dont see how it could be good for the game to not have him there.
They are lower. No question about it. That is why I said "everybody".
Again though, I dont think "everybody" thinks "its not fun when he is not on tv".
There are still MILLIONS that tune in.
True, I agree, just as there are millions that tune out when he is not there. I think I just get frustrated with the dismissive attitude (not from you) that it doesn't matter one way or another if he is there because everyone is better than him anyway. My point is simply, like him or not, it does matter.
I agree with you there.
I do think many feel the same way but opposite though. The feeling of 'when he's not there the tour is boring or doomed'. The PGA Tour was around before Eldrick and will be around after Eldrick.
Very true, so my question is: They have an opportunity here then to feel some heat and aggressively and creatively market the game to a new audience and prepare for the post Tiger world that will one day happen. Do you feel they are doing that? Or are they basically sticking to the staus quo as far as marketing, knowing that Tiger will be back to play one day and will bring viewers with him.
I honestly dont know as commercials on the Golf Channel, ESPN, and such down here are different.
My thought once Steve Williams went to a new bag that Tiger was done for the year.
LOL at all the Tiger haters. Eldrick is the greatest golfer to ever walk the planet and will be back and as dominant as her ever was. This is coming from a guy who is disgusted by his MANY marital indiscretions and his poor bedside manner with fans and the media.
