In need of some thoughts and prayers

Good luck with everything - we'll be praying for you and yours.

Thanks everyone. This is greatly appreciated by us. She had a pretty rough day today. My mom had to go pick her up this morning because she went unconscious while in the vault at the bank. Either she had a seizure or tremors. She's doing fine now though.

Prayers on their way. Please keep us posted and good luck.

I wish you and your family the best of luck and your wife a speedy recovery. My thoughts are with you.

Thoughts and prayers sent your way. Hoping for the best for you!

So a quick update regarding my wife's condition. She has not been doing well since I posted this up originally on Monday. Earlier that day, she had an episode at work. She felt light headed like she was about to pass out so she squated down in the Vault at the bank. She then passed out and either had a seizure or tremmors. She has been under close attention from myself and my mom since this happened. Monday night she fainted again while helping my 2 year old daughter on the potty since we are going through potty training. My mom caught her before she completely passed out and my dad helped her to the couch to lay down. We have been making her take it easy for a while and my mom is caring for my daughter so we can allow my wife to relax.

Right now she's getting 2-3 hours of sleep each night. She gets to sleeping good and either feels like her body is trying to pass out and she wakes herself up trying to fight it or the tremors happen again which wakes her up. She isn't walking to much or being on her feet much because she gets to feeling bad again. We spoke with our adoption agency yesterday and filled them in on everything that has been going on. They informed us that they felt it best if we discontinued the process which we did as of yesterday. This has hit my wife the hardest as she was looking forward to this. As was I, I just knew that we had other things to focus on before we went through with this. Then this morning, I went to pick up her car from her work today and advised them of her condition. On my way back from this she gave me a call. She had spoken with her HR about FMLA and they advised they don't offer and Short term or long term disability. So she had sent her manager an e-mail turning in her 2 weeks notice with medical leave so she won't be there during the 2 weeks.

We have an appointment on Monday the 18th with her cardiologist. Not sure what all if anything can be done. Just ready for her to get on that road to recovery as opposed to just hovering. Please continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers. We greatly appreciate them.

Thanks everyone,

Phil

Thoughts and prayers with your wife, you, and family. I hope it all turns out well.

Thinking and praying about you two!

My prayers are with your family. I hope your wife gets this condition whupped and comes out feeling better soon.

You and your wife are in my prayers, I know halting the adoption was very rough on her as well as you, but her health must take first precedence right now. Hopefully every thing will be aligned just right for you in a short while and you can then adopt. Keep us posted Phil, and God bless you and your family.

So very sorry to hear and will continue to keep good thoughts heading your way.

Ping Rhoda,
I will definitely keep you and your wife in our prayers. Being a dad with a child that has a serious illness, I can attest to the fact that prayers work and staying positive is key. I hope she is on a path of recovery soon.

Best Regards,
Brad

Not sure what else to say other than I am pulling for your wife and family. Keep strong.

Hope all goes well for you and your family.

Well we had our doctors appointment today which was a bit of a waste of time. First off we didn't see her regular Nurse Practitioner nor her main Cardiologist. We started out by giving them a list of all of the symptoms she's been having and described what happened in detail when she passed out at work. The basically blew it off. Said that "Well if your blood pressure gets low enough you can have a seizure". I'm not sure where this doc got his PHD but a seizure is a bit more serious than a shoulder shrug.

For those who don't know. A seizure is cause due to a lack of oxygen to the brain. When you don't get enough oxygen your body takes over and forces you to pass out. If it still doesn't get the required oxygen you have a seizure. And If still that doesn't work serious damage can be caused.

Then they suggested my wife be put on SRRI an anti depressant to help control the seratonan (spelling?) levels in the brain. Then proceeded to make me wonder if he was a doctor or just stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night by saying this drug doesn't have any side effects... Now i'm not a genious by any means but If i'm not mistaken most if not all drugs have some side effects. If may not have any major ones reported but still.

We decided after leaving that we would call back to talk to her nurse practitioner and advise her of how severely disappointed we were with how lightly this visit was taken and we're now in the process of trying to get back to her Neurologist.

Just thought I would update everyone on what's going on and get my rant out of the way. We greatly appreciate all of the kind words and prayers that we've been receiving. Thank you all.

Phil

Been in the med field for quite some time. I could get into the details of everything you have described and flex my intellectual muscles. Forget that.

Chronic illness must be dominated by the patient. If not, it will dominate the patient. No throwing arms in the air and pleading helplessness. Gotta run with it...it's chronic because it isn't going anywhere, ever. It sucks, it's not fair, it's expensive, it's everything no one wants. In no way am I saying or implying your wife has not owned her illness. But, I must ask, has she?

I suspect she has not given one simple thing. The adoption process. It's no small feat to be prepared to adopt a child. It takes many hours and many dollars of commitment to even be considered. Why have you turned from that? Why did you even ask the agency for guidance? Lay it on the table and move forward. Live your lives and dominate the illness as it is going nowhere, ever. Get back on the adoption lists and move forward. It may not be prudent, but who among us has time for prudence when faced with what your wife is faced with?

I hope I don't seem like an ass. Not my intention. Focus the energy spent on the things that can be achieved. FWIW I have a chronic illness and my children are proudly adopted.

Here's to a speedy recovery man. :drinks:

Hey everyone,

It's been a little while since I last updated. She has been doing pretty well for the most part here lately. Of course she has her days but even despite the solid 1-2 weeks of triple digit temperatures, she's been doing rather well.

We spoke with the Neurologist/Seizure Specialist at the Arkansas Epilepsy Program. We left there happy after our talk. Starting on Thursday, they will be hooking her up to a monitor to measure brain activity as well as heart from what I understand. This is a 4 day at home test. It will record her to see if she is having Epileptic shocks and/or seizures. If this test comes back with no usable results then they will be admitting her to a local Hospital for a week or 2 weeks for some "more annoying" testing where they will put her in her own private room with 24 hour cameras and monitors keeping track of her. They will then push her to her body's current limitations for force an episode to find out why she is having these seizures or epileptic shocks. Hopefully we can make some sort of progress to better understand what's going on if not help better control her to have better days all together. Also, it just so happens that the nurse that will be helping us during this time happens to be a neighbor of ours so it's bit of a relief to know we have someone kind of knowledgeable regarding her condition and her symptoms that lives so close.

We really appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers during this time. It means so much to us. I will update next week letting everyone know how the at home testing goes this weekend.
