So we have a shooter on my campus right now...

Oh wow, get away from there if you are not already. Horrible news, praying for all there.

Let's not turn this into a debate over C&C Laws, please. It will go there, in a hurry and for no reason. My two cents.
 
And we don't need heavier gun laws

I wasn't trying to start a debate. I was simply saying that if I was in a classroom and someone came in waving a gun and shooting I would have an opportunity to stop them. It's a horrible situation for anyone to be in and wouldn't wish it on anyone. My thoughts and prayers are for all people involved.

They're apparently shutting down the entire neighborhood of Oakland where my University is.
 
Anyone see any online new about this event?

I've looked and can't find anything.

Listening to the feed, it sounds like pandemonium and chaos. Gosh, thoughts out to everyone, especially the first responders and police for the jobs they do.

If I was there I'd be in the middle of it. I'm an EMT.
 
Currently the count is 9 shot, 2 dead including the first gunman.

Finally got a hold of my friend who WAS at work but was escorted out by SWAT during the clear.

Hopefully they kill the other gunman. (or gunmen, if there are more than 2)
 
Glad your friend is ok Darren. Hope this ends shortly and there are not any more victims.
 
To be honest, I'm almost happy it happened where it did. This building is LITERALLY 2 steps away from one of the best level 1 trauma centers in the Northeast. Gives a better chance of survival. I'm happy it wasn't in the middle of nowhere where a GSW could spell death simply due to lack of emergency care in a timely fashion...

News is saying Pitt campus police saved a lot of lives because 2 of our officers returned fire immediately on the gunman in the lobby, killing him almost instantly. Estimates upwards of 10+ people could have been hurt.

That's why I'm glad that in Oklahoma and a few other states they are allowing concealed to carry on college campuses. I attend college part time and I always carry when I'm there. Hopefully I never have to protect myself but if something like this happens at least I will have an option to stop something terrible.
