If you wanna discuss poker hands anytime just hit me up. You'll have more fun, make more money, and forget about BJ very quickly.

Seth, like I said single deck is tough to find but it is out there. At least last time I hit Vegas it was. Maybe a THP get together in Vegas is in order so we can get some blackjack in... As well as some decent golf.

Thanks Yorkem! I have managed not to piss anyone off because I learned when to hit and when to stay so I don't mess up the stack. I also know to ask before I sit and to wait for the next shoe if people seem to be on a streak.

I actually built myself up from 80$ to $360, but I was stupid and didn't leave the table. That is one thing I have learned. Get out while the getting is good. I think I managed to win $80 in one hand a couple times because I split and doubled down on both cards when a 5 or 6 was showing.

You got it buddy. I saw your later message too, and we will definitely talk.

Yeah, but they don't have real cards and they use shoes that are 6 decks deep. Makes it harder to count the cards.

I do not trust, and will not play, withoout real cards. To easy to stack the deck (pun intended) in the casinos favor(like it is not already).

I didn't even know they had single deck games.

Google can help you find this info. In LV, single-deck is usually off the strip, d'town, in the older area. And, it's usually only during normal working hours....before 4-5pm. The Strip is mostly 6-deck with reshuffles happening after about 4-decks.

OH YA! I love blackjack. That and craps. Both require knowing when to walk.

Most of your better books on strategy will have chapters on money management (conservativie, modest, aggressive). Read it. Memorize it. Have a buddy nearby who will punch you in the face if you stray from it.

I recon you have a lot of people just throwing money out on a $1\$2 table yeah?

I have never played craps and I don't have anyone to teach me. I do need to get a book on BJ strategy. I would like to alternate between BJ and NL. 7 stud might be fun as well. I like BJ because everybody is on the same team and there is a sense of camaraderie at the table.

If you wanna feel camaraderie there is nothing that compares in a casino to being on a crap table with a hot shooter. Everyone is making money when a shooter has the dice for 20-30 minutes. Find the busiest, loudest crap table you can find and you'll have a blast. Play a basic game and don't worry about what other people are betting on and you'll be fine. It's the only game in any casino where the player gets true odds. Check into it.

I will definitely check that out!

I just confirmed what 1Tizzle said about Cherokee in NC. They do have live cards now.

I would be happy to teach you craps sometime. I haven't made it to a casino recently though, which is kinda a bummer.
Craps does have the single "best" bet in a casino. If you bet on "pass odds/come odds" it is a true 0% house-odds, which is awesome

I use to play blackjack but now rather baccarat and craps. Those 2 games allow me to control my money and freedom to pick what to bet.

With blackjack, I really dislike those that make wrong decisions that affects the rest of the table and shoe. (Not playing general strategy). I know its your money so u can hit or stay as u please. But if the dealer shows a # card under 7, please dont hit and take the dealer's possible bust card.

I use to play a little cards in my day. Some would say I had a problem...I prefer to say I was quirky. I dont gamble anymore.

Haha I pretty much could have written the same post. Man could I tell some freaking depressing stories

Beware of payouts on single deck. Some places will only pay even money on BJ's instead of the standard 3-2, which makes a big difference.

Also, be aware that some tables put a lot of pressure on whoever is playing third base (last hand before the dealer). If you're not sure of your self, you may want to avoid taking that seat.

Yeah, I try to avoid 3rd base. I have probably spent about 10-15 hours at the tables now and I have picked up most of the basics I think. People have not gotten mad at me.

Advanced Strategy and Camaradarie are difficult when combined. And, counting cards at a table where everyone knows Basic Strategy is not easy, because the speed of the game can be very quick. Basic Strategy and Camaradarie are pretty simple combinations. But, counting cards (and not look like you are counting cards {Read no alcohol, no chitchat} takes a LOT of practice. Then, throw in how to achieve proper money management for each hand, just throws another twist to it.

Craps, to me, is much easier to manage, with better odds (especially you when you understand the table and know that 95% of the table is sucker bets.), and more fun. It is the only game where yelling is not frowned upon.

Yes. Each casino will have it's "catch".

I can see where advanced strategy would take a lot of focus unless one was really good at it. I will definitely learn how to play craps.

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned progressions yet.

This is an awesomely timed thread as I'm going to Atlantic City next week.

Too detailed for this thead, maybe? That is why I only referenced 'money management'.

Interesting. I just did a little reading on progressions and I was doing a form of it last time I played. It netted me a little money till the streak came to an end and then I went back to flat betting. The concept of progressive betting seems simple, but I bet it gets pretty complicated.

Oh yeah! That's my game of choice when we go to a casino.

Progressions seem simple, but require commitment and sometimes deep pockets.
