Unfortunately, I am the defacto IT support for their entire family... These are people who just started text messaging this year. Love them to death, but I dread that call. "Hey Jon, I was trying to do such and such, blah blah blah". The upside is that they think I'm way smarter than I really am. :D

I am always having to do that around Christmas time. I hate it when my Dad calls me and say's, "Hey, I was thinking of getting Patty a Wii/iPod/Nook/laptop/webcam/digital camera. Can you help me pick one out and set it up?" I am the Geek Squad dude, every Christmas and the weeks following. The other day, I had to download and load "Fifty Shades of Gray" onto my step moms Nook. Uncomfortable.

Just gave an entire lecture in my "broadcaster" voice. Boom.

Yup, same here. I spend a lot of time during the holidays either, fixing, setting up or showing someone how to use their new gadget. It gets old.

The only silver lining is, you get to play with the crap before they do. I was killing it on some Mario Kart last year, after setting up the Wii. Explaining to my Dad how you use the steering wheel was priceless. The last time he played a video game, was Duck Hunt when I got my first Nintendo in 1987.

If asked to set something up for someone, I always do something to mess with them like change their default ringtone to something silly or make their wallpaper ridiculous.

We used to do that at the radio station I worked out. There were assigned desks, but some of us just sat wherever and used that workstation to type of stories or answer phones. We always set one guys wallpaper to the most ridiculous crap we could find. One time, he had Clint Howard as his desktop wallpaper for like a month.

I want to make a commercial with me standing in front of an Indian casino with a tear rolling down my cheek.

I thought I was going to shoot someone when my mom got her iPhone a while back. Every few hours I got a phone call with another question.

But the iPhone is so simple to use??!!? haha

Back on another conference call and the same person is back speaking again. Thank goodness they are so good at what they do, because this is longwinded. Fascinating, but longwinded.

So do I, Dean! Longwinded, fascinating, and not in the rant thread. That sounds good to me!

I didn't think finding a replacement key for my Macbook pro would be such a problem, but I finally got one in-in fact the seller sent me two of them for some reason-I don't know-anyways my mac is good as new-3 years later. . .

I agree. Must mean something potentially good! Plus 2 conference calls in the same day with the same person involved. I wonder if he's talking to my agent:alien:

What key do you need for the MBP?

No one has ever called me fascinating before.

I am honored.

I needed the delete key for months ugh but I got it finally!

Ah. It all makes sense now. I'm sure that's a pain to get without returning it to Apple for refurb...

Yeah man and when I took the computer in to get the optical drive replaced-turns out it was faulty since I bought it 3 years ago. . .I asked them to chck out my delete key because it was feeling strange and of course they didn't-I just found a single key from some website it's something like keyboard keys.com or something and I got it for $6 shipped-they sent me two-but now it doesn't pop off in the middle of a sentence

Any one have Frontier for cable if so good or no good ???
