I was driving to work this morning and heard U2's version of "Dancing Barefoot" on the radio. I have to say I like their version better than Patti Smith's original.

What covers do you like better than the original? Or what originals are much better than the covers?

I love Johnny Cash’s cover of Hurt by Nine Inch Nails.

Seether redid Wham's "Careless Whisper" and it's pretty good.

Shinedown redid Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Simple Man"

Hank 3 redid Bruce Springsteen's "Atlantic City"

In This Moment redid Blondie's "Call Me"

All are far superior to the original

I like Smashing Pumpkins "Landslide" as much as I like Fleetwood Mac's original.

Says the man who thinks you can mess with Skynyrd.

Agreed. You can't redo Skynyrd and it be good. Ecspecially "Simple Man".

Two covers I like better than the originals:

Pat’s Benatar’s cover of the Beatle’s Helter Skelter
Patty Smyth’s cover of Journey’s Only the Young

Me First & the Gimme Gimmes doing Boys 2 Mens "End of the Road, makes me laugh every time.

Disturbed did a great cover of the Phil Collins (Genesis maybe?) classic Land of Confusion. It was done very well with a modern, metal type twist.

Metallica has done a buch of covers over the years and most of them as good as the originals. They do covers like no one else.

Dwight Yokum did a great cover of the Clash's " Train in Vain".

Trust me, Shinedown does a better job of it...

The Gourds redid Snoop Dogg's "Gin & Juice" It's awesome

Dynamite Hack redid EzE's "Boys In The Hood", also howlingly funny.

Alien Ant Farm's cover of Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal"

Jeff Buckley's cover of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah"

Foo Fighter's cover of Prince's "Darling Nikki"

Quiet Riot's cover of Slade's "Cum On Feel The Noize"

Without question Stevie Ray Vaughn's cover of Jimi's "Little Wing."

*Gummi goes on a rant*

The Foo Fighters are a band that I reserve a special contempt for. Not sure what it is about them, but they irritate the hell out of me, and I find myself wishing them a demise like the closing sequence of The Italian Job (w/ Michael Caine, not Marky Mark)

I think it's because they're a band who have a drummer as their leader and that just doesn't work.

Girl You'll be a Woman Soon. Urge Overkill covered Neil Diamond.

Babe I'm Gonna Leave You by Led Zeppelin

Wow, I thought we pretty much agreed on everything... The first album was awesome and they kind of went downhill a bit for me after that.

Maybe we should start a 6 page :bicker: session about who's right:D

I have learned my lesson! :beat-up::wink:

I think Madonna's version of "American Pie" was horrible. What was she thinking.

I like Clapton's version of "I Shot the Sheriff" better than Bob Marley's.

The Atari's did an awesome version of one of my favorite songs, "Boys of Summer".

Manson's take on "Tainted Love" is interesting.

I have never heard the Foo Fighter's version. Hard to believe it is better than Prince's.

And I thought that song WAS Quiet Riot's song originally!

EDIT: OK I found the Foo Fighter version. I was right! (IMO)
