Just moved South of Montreal and trying to plan out the "must play" tracks as well as a good single year membership in the greater Montreal area. I already have Bethpage Black, Jays Peak, Vermont National and the Mont Tremblant courses on the "to do" list. Anyone know of any others options or looking for a game?

Turning Stone Resort and Casino has some really nice courses. They are on the expensive side but if you ever get down to upstate NY and want a really nice experience, it is worth a look. Their website is really nice. All three of the PGA courses have a hole by hole gallery. The website is www.turningstone.com.

If you ever get out this way near Ottawa, The Marshes is a Robert Trent Jones Jr/Sr collaboration that's really nice. I rarely play it b/c upwards of 120 bucks, but really really nice.

You have your eye on some nice course there, I've played Bethpage, VT National and Mont Tremblant courses. Tremblant is beautiful and a great village; I have some pictures in here on a thread from when I was there.

Some other good spots I've had the chance to play while I lived up that way are Lake Placid Club, Saratoga National, The Sagamore in Lake George, NY; Leatherstocking in Cooperstown, NY and Killington, VT courses.

Lots of beautiful golf up that way... to bad it's such a short season!

I used to love to play Stratton mountain and The Equinox in Manchester center VT. The Equinox is a really nice course.

Turning Stone looks great and offers some excellent packages! And at 4.5hrs definitely in range.

Thanks everyone for all the info! Where is the closest region for courses to typically open?

Last year things opened in April here, usually they don't until May. It all depends on how fast the snow melts and if it dries enough for them to start working on the courses. I went down to Turning Stone last year and played Pleasant Knolls and Sandstone Hollow because they were open around the 1st of April and couldn't wait for the ones around here.

Let me know if you're ever coming down this way and maybe we can get together for a round.

Here in Ottawa (only 2ish hrs from M), last year most courses were open by end of March. Year before it was mid May. Really a crap shoot. I'm hoping for early this year again because our snow base is only about 5-10cm. Not much to thaw once the warmth comes, and it's been pretty sunny so gets thinner every day.

Nice! I will definitely get out towards Ottawa this year especially if you guys open before here
