This is a two part question:

1) Which is the best mall you've ever been to in your life?

2) What are some of your favorite retail stores?

Since I'm married to a retail therapist I've been to malls all over the country and IMO The Boca Mall in South Florida is tops. Every major anchor you can think of in a single floor setup with hundreds of specialty shops.

Some of my favorite stores are: JCrew, Polo, Izod/Lacoste, Bloomingdales, Nordstoms (shoes), Radio Shack, Williams Sonoma, Sur La Table, Nieman Marcus, Dicks.

What are yours?

International Plaza in Tampa. I love malls because I love to shop. I have been to the biggest, the 2nd biggest, and so many others, but they always fall short in one way or another to this one.

Nordstroms is my favorite for all things apparel.

I don't like malls - the air is dry and I get thirsty. Most of the stores that are in the mall are also on Main Streets in the area.

King of Prussia Mall here outside Philly. 2nd largest in the country for pure size and largest in the country for retail space. Has just about everything in it. Fave stores are Nordstroms, Bloomy's, Golf Galaxy, Polo, Jos A Bank, J Crew, Kenny Cole, Macy's, Golfdom, Barnes & Nobles, DSW

I haven't been in a mall in at least 3 or 4 years, went to the Galleria in Dallas at Christmas around that time. Have no interest in going back. I used to participate in the great american past time of 'spend all your money on the latest greatest stuff tat everyone just has to have right now' but I stopped doing that many years ago, and it hasn't hurt me one bit.

We use malls to just walk around in. Can't remember the last time I purchased anything meaningful inside a mall. We have few in Vegas, but for the most part most they are of the "strip mall" variety with a couple of anchoring big box stores. The big hotel casinos have their own shopping malls which are fun walk, while watching other people shop. (Picture the tall, blonde haired beauty, with money just dripping off of her, walking in and out stores, leading a pair Afghan Hounds on diamond studded collars, and leashes.) Food in Vegas can run from a $0.29 taco, to a $1000.00 plus steak dinner. (no sharing on the steak dinner)

The new trend is to build a big high rise city with condos, and all the stores, eateries, and casinos needed so that owners don't have to leave their home area. They can walk to, or have things delivered as they need them.

As for merchants we are pretty much shopping with the masses. We feel no need to waste money shopping at high dollar stores who's quality of merchandise is not that much better to justify their mark up. I say this from experience.

All my big golf equipment/accessories purchases I purchase out of state from a vendor in Manhattan, Kansas. I have a really big priority on service after the sale, and then pricing. This vendor delivers on both. The local golf vendors in Vegas are lacking in both of these areas. Again, I am talking from experience.

Vegas is a unique kind of a place to live in.

Do not mind going to the mall couple that I like to go to one is here in Birmingham, AL it a large mall and out side of the anchor stores they have large comfy chairs. My wife and I part ways at the mall entrance I head for the chairs for my Saturday afternoon nap and she goes shopping. There's also a mall in Chattanooga Tenn that is quite large that we will make a day trip about twice a year. The Birmingham mall is supposed to be getting a Nordstrom next year. My real preference is the home improvement store's Lowe's or Home Depot.

I must have a defective X chromosome, because I loathe shopping.

Mall: the Internet
Store: Talbots

If it's not there, I mostly don't need to wear it.

I've been to MoA in Minneapolis and Woodfield Mall iin Chicago, both of which I thought were great.

My favorite stores are Dicks, Sharper Image (now gone), and Brookstone.

Johneli, what exactly is a "retail therapist"?

She needs retail therapy to be whole. IE: The girl LIVES to shop......and I sorta like it too.

I like the Gurney Mills Outlet Mall in IL. Actually, I like the two food courts. Both have taco places that sell these awesome diced pork tacos. Your choice of soft corn or flour tortillas. They come with onions, tomatoes, cilantro, and crumbled anejo cheese. They give you a slice of lime for squeezing and you can grab their red salsa or salsa verde.

They also have an Al's Beef. I like mine wet with mozzarella and giardiniera.

The food courts here in Cheeseland blow in comparison. I could eat those tacos all day. When I go to the mall with my Wife and Daughter, I head to the Barnes and Noble, and they go and do whatever it is they do. Then we go home and I say how much I like everything they bought.

I shop at the Casual Male XL myself. I can stock up on Oak Hill golf shirts and Harbor Bay khaki pants and shorts faster than you can eat a Big Mac.

I am casual, male, and XL (or more), and that store makes my life easy.

I'm a bit curious - do you see a connection between the two or is it just me?

Can't slip the obvious past you, Diane. I've noticed that since I started coming around here. What can I say? I'd rather eat than shop.

Been to Mall of America a couple times & it's ok, my grandson really enjoyed the amusement park. Woodfield used to be good but now it's just like every other mall out there.

I don't like the fact you can't walk in a circle like other malls & end up back where you began. It's one long hallway.

Went to one in the Dallas area, don't recall the name but security rode around on Segways.

My favorite would probably be the Forum Shops at Ceasars Palace in Vegas.

I avoid malls like the plague.

The only time I actually set foot inside a mall is if the one thing I need is just absolutely not available anywhere else.

I don't like the crowds, the air and the whole "herd" mentality.

I prefer free-standing buildings or downtown shops. But with the advent of online shopping, unless I'm looking to purchase something that I'd rather see in person, my computer is the way to go.

If I never set foot in another mall or retail store (except for golf & sporting goods) it would suit me just fine. One of the greatest benefits of being married is that she shops for me.

The coolest mall I've ever been to is Mall of America, about 10 years ago. The favorite mall I've been too is the Ala Moana in Honolulu. I've been twice, in 1971 and 2003.

Favorite retail store? Wal-Mart. They aren't in Malls but I don't really shop in malls!

Malls never seem to have the stores I want to go to...

Why can't a Edwin Watts be an anchor? Bass Pro or Cabelas? How about REI? Comfy couch and big ass TV store?

I don't deal well with plastic middle-aged women, teeny boppers or crazy homeless folk. I can't seem to find the things I want in a mall either, I won't even go into how difficult it is to park a pickup...

If it weren't for Sears, Frulatti and Cinnabon, I'd never go there on Christmas Eve for an hour or two. :D

Bass Pro or Cabelas?
If our mall had a bass pro shop I would be there with the lady every weekend. I avoid malls as much as possible, I was practically raised in Nordstroms, my mom loves that place. Every once in a while I will go to Williams Sonoma or Sur La Table and check stuff out and go home and order it online for cheaper. I cant pick my favorite mall because they are all carbon copies of each other in LA.

You must be petite?

I like the outlet malls in Branson MO but it has gotten really hard to get there since I now live in Arizona. Favorite stores were Izod, Ralph Lauren, Fossil.
