10 Most Miserable States

Ohio is miserable for two months a year. February and March

And January and December and november

Haha see I love the holidays. And to me, Christmas in the south is just not right. I want snow for Christmas and thanksgiving. But the day after Christmas is when I start cussing out snow flakes

Best quote you have made in 3 years on THP.

Best quote and best hash tag all today

It's been a good day

And I believe I was there in October. That was awful. I think it was October anyway. 40 degrees, gray skies. No wonder everybody is depressed.

Lol that was bad...it's usually 70s...I blame war eagle

How is NY not ranked #1 on this? This state continues to turn into a bigger dump and ran further into the ground day by day.

Montana is a great state to live in - at least when you get to the mountains.

Funny that Ohio is bunched in with all those states. It's sort of the odd duck in that group.
I have always thought of Ohio as a ODD DUCK!!!

I'm surrounded by miserable states. No wonder every time I travel to go golf or just for fun I would rather just stay at home....

There are some states I have lived in that I am shocked are not listed here. But based on qualifications I understand. Just awful places.

Stoked to see Missouri make the list. :alien:

I'm actually not surprised. We're lame. Our state legislature is a maniacal nightmare and we produce just enough meth to make us the armpit of the world. Go us!

Even though I'm enjoying my time here, I'm a bit surprised to not see NJ on this list...haha.

No state income tax, yeah we're miserable in Tennessee. :act-up: I think the list is a joke.

After reading this thread, I have come to the conclusion that Wisconsin isn't that bad

Wisconsin is a great place. The winters are tough but the people are great and cost of living and quality of life are great. If you grow up with those winters(I did for 33 years) you learn to like hockey, ice fishing, snowmobiling, skiing, drinking, bowling, darts or all of the above. I now live in one of the sunniest, warmest cities in the U.S. but if given a choice of spending my whole life here in California or in Wisconsin, the easy pick would be Wisconsin.

I grew up next door to Ohio and I didn't realize how much the sun can affect one's mood until I moved to Colorado. I don't remember those grey skies with any love whatsoever.

I wouldn't give up my East TN home for many places, but considering the criteria I guess it's understandable that we are in the "top 10." It's hard to debate the poverty in the northeastern part of the state. I think "miserable" was a bad choice of words for the report...money doesn't equal happiness. I know people with much less than I have that are quite happy and satisfied.

I live in Annapolis in the Land of Pleasant Living on the shores of the Chesapeake. If questioned regarding my personal misery perspective, I may seem somewhat bi-polar in my response. I really do enjoy the lifestyle that my locale provides, so I am far from miserable in that regard. However, in other areas, I would report being rather miserable. Maryland is an expensive place to live, there is not a tax or a dollar to spend that the politicos do not like. Heck, they now want to even tax the rain. Moreover, in such matters, I must rely on and live by the Serenity Prayer. The State is totally controlled by Balitmore City, Prince Georges and Montogomery Counties. If you live anywhere else, especially the western mountains or the eastern shore, you are totally invisible, you are nothing more than a tax source. But again, I love my lifestyle, so I accept the price. That and the fact that my wife was born and raised in Baltimore and comes from a large family, so I ain't leaving. Again-the Serenity Prayer.

Let me guess, Lawton? I dated a woman from just outside there. Yeah, what a mess.

Yes. I've been to a lot of places here in the U.S. and when Lawton, OK is ahead White Sands, NM in my list of miserable places I've lived, you know there's a problem.

Ha ha ha ... no kidding. The only thing I liked about Lawton was the casino's. I could start with $20 and win enough to pay for the entire weekend. That's really not saying much, I know. Escaping to Wichita Falls didn't exactly paint a much prettier picture either.

So what are the least miserable states then.
