Ever anticipated a good round and actually delivered?

This is a mental battle I've been dealing with all season. I practice well and expect good things but don't always deliver. For me, I play my best when I'm not thinking about it and just let it happen.

Usually my best rounds are unexpected and usually when I don't think I will. After the first or second hole I can tell what kind of round I will have. If my grip feels good and my swing feels loose and powerful on the first hole, I know I will be having a good day.

I think I'd best reply with an anecdote from last week.

Friday night, the night before a local match. Some guys where placing bets on their scores the following day. The one closest to their predicted score would win. Now I play about an 11 handicap, our course is par71. I put money on a round of 78.
Played 77, didn't win the match as it was net-score (a 17 handicap played an 83!), did pick up the winnings though ;)
