Not true. But even though Philly is a top 5 restauraunt city in the country it's limited in southwestern flair, etc

You mentioned carne asada is the only reason I bring it up. I get one every time I am in San Diego.
Large flour tortilla (warmed)
carne asada
french fries
sour cream
cheese
Squeeze lime and add hot sauce after each bite.
It's quite possibly the best thing I have ever eaten.

Those little mom & pop places are the best to go to for tacos and such out west. My personal favorite... Cha Cha Tacos in Redlands.
Agreed. I have such a hard time eating Mexican food here, because nothing compares to out West.
A close second is some of the local Cuban and Peruvian places that have outstanding cuisine!

No doubt... I have an Argentinian Steak House that's a little sleeper here but mostly Cuban, Puerto Rican fare around my ways. There's a couple of Mexican places but it's still not the same.
Now I keep thinking pollo a la plancha right now. Hmmm.

next time youre in diego and make it south of torrey pines into pacific beach... you have to visit taco surf... awesome burritos...
