Sony Open - Week 1 of THP Fantasy Golf [Spoilers]

picks are in but i have no idea!! i really need to brush up on my golf knowledge - i dont know all these players

I though about taking Lovemark, then I saw this wasn't his first pga event. He finished 40th at frys. (I think it was frys, it was some fall series event.. ) YOu would think the adrenaline would have been kicking there.

finished tied for 1st, went to a 3 man playoff and lost, but yeah, he played well. ironically, he played with rickie fowler in that playoff and both lost.

I read earlier today that Dave Eichelberger was in the field this week. The man is 67 years old! I was all set to make fun of the PGA Tour for letting him into the first full-field event of the year on some weird technicality or sponsor exemption...however, it turns out that he actually qualified for the event by winning a tourney in Hawaii. Shane Bacon has the details on his blog:

Should be interesting to watch! No, I did not choose him for my fantasy team.

EDIT--- Skimmed and missed BenJ's post, Thank you BenJ

You mean like picking Stricker over Garrigus and Byrd? :act-up:

Yes. Stricker earned on average, 4.3 mil over the last 4 years. Byrd earned on average 1.4 mil and Garrigus 750K. Sure on a single tournament basis, someone could and probably would beat one of the top 10 guys, but this is a season long contest.

I think that's the beauty of picking your team every week. Brings the one-offs into play! Someone with a wild pick one week can make a lot of ground on the field if it's an unexpected winner. It's a gamble, but you could get lucky!

i wonder if this one will get underway tomorrow. seems as though the rain may be settled in. i sure hope so, i've got fantasy bragging rights on the line here.

Yeah, I hope they can get it in, but several pro's have tweeted things are looking bleak. I've changed my team around like 20 times, haha.

haha, not me, i set my team after doing some research and i leave it. always trust your first instinct duey! i tried to come up with a couple of darkhorse picks. they'll either kill me or help me. the fantasty golf sure has added a nice amount of fun to the tournaments.

Yep I made my picks and left em like they were. I actually forgot who I picked? Anyways I'm watching Andy Griffin of Mayberry and I could have sworn he said something like your statement :Din blue. Must be a North Carolina kind of thing huh?

Another statement on the Andy Griffin show was when a dude was all dressed up in his Sunday suit and some old heffer says "You look good enough to buried")

I too have been researching for it and find that fact very amusing. I keep finding little tidbits that swing me this way and that, lol. I came across something on twitter about how much the tv coverage jumped for last weeks tournament over last year. They commented that one in a row is no trend, but pretty surprising given it was on a playoff weekend. Wonder if that happened last year? I also wonder how much all the THP twitting on this has effected viewership?

Only change I've made is subbing Tim Clark in for Dustin Johnson who withdrew

This is the winning team people look upon it in awe and wonder :eek:k:

Team RonInThornton For TheHackersParadise1 Sony Open in Hawaii Golf Challenge
Tim Clark
Matt Kuchar
Jeff Overton
Steve Stricker
Charlie Wi
Stuart Appleby
Jason Day
Jim Furyk
David Duval
Zach Johnson

Looks like R. Barnes has withdrawn from the Sony Open with a wrist injury.

Yes, sure hope it's not something big/bad.

Everybody get their team set for Fantasy Golf? I went with deep flyers and am looked way down deep into the sleepers.

I'm all set for this week. The winning team is here and ready to go.

Im ready to rock and roll

I'm gonna finish last now that it counts hehe.

Duffy Waldorf is in the field at the Sony. He has not played on the PGA Tour since his injury. I want to personally wish our friend good luck and hope he comes out hot!
