I brought both the epic speed and the speed max LS with me to Florida. First round with the std speed was ok but popped the Max LS in for the second round and was able to gain some decent distance. Definitely more forgiving head for my swing although I very much like the sound of the Std speed better. I may try to drop some yarn in the max to help deaden the sound. Has anyone else done this and had good results?
I found the same thing with the Max LS. When I took a demo out on the course with the stock MMT shaft I really liked it and purchased it based on how it performed. I had an Atmos Blue Tour Spec in the 65 gram range I used in the Rogue and the Rogue White 130 MSI also in the 65 gram range that I used in the Mavrik Max. I assumed one would end up in the Max LS. Neither felt as good as the stock MMT and neither performed like they did in the Rogue or Mavrik Max. So I stuck with the MMT but I just felt like I could get more out of this driver. After all the positive reviews here I ordered the Ventus Blue 5S hoping it would be the shaft. I ordered the 5S instead of The 6S for no other reason than seeing how much more club head speed I generate with the lightest Superspeed Shaft than the other two. It worked out and as good as this driver was with the stock shaft as @Snickerdog said the Ventus Blue " Just makes clubs come alive".Regarding Speed head, I believe it is very finicky related to shaft selection for it.....I hit 3 other shafts prior to Tensei Blue AV 65R ......was not impressed by head before this combo......I really believe that it takes a bit more to get this head dialed in......but when you do ......WOWZZER
I’m playing both the std and the max LS in my ventus blue 6S and it’s great. The speed looks and sounds better to me but I can’t argue with the additional forgiveness I’m getting from the LS. When I tried it, I hit the MMT and my VB. The MMT was good but the ventus works in both. I’ll see how the next round goes but I want lower scores more than I want good acoustics… to a pointI found the same thing with the Max LS. If memory serves, my experience may differ from most of the things I’ve read. That being, the standard head is more draw biased than the max LS head. My experience has been that the size and “square” look of the Max LS allows me to put a better draw swing on it. And the low spin helps me get another 10 yds out of my drives. When I put the right move on the standard epic speed, it’s better than the Mavrik that preceded it and very playable but the smaller head is a touch more demanding than my ~8 HC swing can deliver. The MMT test I did before pulling the trigger showed a couple hundred less rpm backspin (which I fight) and is why I felt it was worth the experiment. For any new readers, I’m about 100-105 mph swing speed. Again, the ventus blue 6S Velocore is my “go to” shaft but I’d be totally content with the MMT off the rack in this head. Are you personally seeing any flight bias? Fades or draw predominant
Please tell me you aren't setting that beauty on the concrete?!?! lol
Max LS has been good for me lately! I'm being more patient in my downswing transition which is keeping me more in sync through the ball which is resulting in some serious (for me anyway) long straight drives. When I'm in rhythm my ball flight has very little curve which is what I am use to. Last 3 rounds have 79, 81 and 83 which. None of my big numbers are due to poor driving. I worked hard over the winter to get more CHS and I'm still figuring out my iron distances. It seems I am about 7 to 10 yards longer throughout my irons which has put me over greens and into the crap.
