This probably has been discussed previously, but I thought it would be fun to address again. This winter, I have had a chance to play 7 rounds on Bermuda courses. I just finished three days of golf on Bermuda greens that were lightening fast. It is such a different surface to play on than what I am habituated to seeing. The extremely tight lies on these courses makes the little flop shots so much more difficult. On the other hand, it seems so much easier to get the ball to stop on the greens.

What grass do you feel is most conducive to your games and why?

I despise bermuda

waiting for the person to post the kind you smoke.

Like you @Tenputt I have almost no experience with bermuda. I think I have played on it only once. Seems from what I have read to be very love/hate. But those that figure it out it is like learning to drive stick. You can then play on anything.

There is a course here that the fairways and greens are all bent grass that course is freaking amazing to play.

I think it is a difficult transition for we who play up in the more northern parts of the country. I simply could not pull off some of the shots I can on the bent grass or blue grass that I typically see. I am sure we would habituate to it.

Bent grass all day, everyday.

I've played 95% of my golf on course that are wall to wall Bermuda, so I favor it. I really like Zoysia fairways. I wish more courses had it. I've played several courses with bent greens and the great roll you get. But they take a beating in the Southern heat and humidity and the golfidiots' failure to properly repair (or at all) ball marks.

Absolutely no idea. I just know I like a bit of spring to my grass when on the fairway.

I'm not a grass expert, but I do know. I'm not a fan of bermuda grass. Given a choice, I much rather play on anything other than bermuda grasses. As I understand it, there are different varieties of the stuff.

But heck. Golf is golf, and I will never turn down playing on any type of grass.

Truth be known, I'd have to be told, or read that I'm playing on bermuda grass.

We have bent greens almost everywhere in the Ohio Valley. It's what I'm used to but I kind of like Bermuda because the greens tend to be faster and firmer. I don't like Zoyzia because I tend to hit a lot of chunky shots off of it.

we don't get to see it year round, so first choice is green. Second would be whatever grass the hideaway and ecpc had. Its was so nice to not hit through a wrist breaking root system while taking a divot.

Bent

Fescue is fun if grown good.

Bent...bent...bent...bent....

Zoysia fairways are great. Bent grass is fine unless it's wet, then it sucks. Straight fescue fairways are terrible.

I prefer Zoysia fairways and Bent Grass greens for sure. I don't know that I have a particular like for any kind of rough. Bermuda can be funky and Fescue depends on how long they let it grow.

Playing in the Northeast, I would definitely say Bent grass and poa annua greens. That said I don't mind Bermuda when I'm playing in the south.

You must play out at TPC Craig Ranch? Thats the only place Ive played with Zoysia fairways and really liked it. There is a country club here is Cincinnati that has it on their range, thought that was neat.

The only grass I dont really care for is wet grass.

Pineapple Express
Do- Si- Dos
Sour Diesel
Casino Kush
Sour Banana Sherbet

Zoysia tee's, and fairways....bent greens and collars.

I don't dislike Bermuda, but for a pure roll on the greens I'm a bentgrass guy.

I like green grass that doesn’t have a foot of white crap all over it.

The short kind!!!

Quite literally anything except bermuda. I am AWFUL on bermuda. Still not good, but not as awful on just about anything else
