I picked up a box of the Red Stripe balls and have had only one chance to play, that being last Friday. The temperature at tee time was 42° and really didn't warm much as the wind picked up as we went along. I didn't play it exclusively, but when I did put it in play I saw no significant...
There is only one hole on my course where I will play a "found" ball due to all the trouble on it. Otherwise, unless badly scuffed from hitting a cart path, I will play a ball until the brand and/or model lettering is almost unreadable.
If you correctly indicate the number of times the putter was used in Auto mode, those tap-ins get recorded but default to a 2-foot putt. I don't know if strokes gained-wise, 2 feet vs 1 foot or less makes any difference.
In Auto mode, one of the reasons it is so poor picking up tap-ins, in my opinion, is because you have to take a couple of good practice swings for the tag to record your location. Even taking exaggerated practice swings with those very short putts doesn't seem to help the accuracy. I know the...
At 77 years of age, there is no question that I am "old", and have been for quite some time, though I would generally say it starts around full retirement age, 65 or 66.
@Chef23 You mention trying various shafts, but did they have you try different swing weights? When I had an iron fitting at my local PXG store, before even trying a wide variety of shafts, swing weight was about the first thing he had me experiment with. Overall, I did see some minimal...
I used to think "Manual" mode, marking the location of each putt while standing over the ball, was more accurate than Auto. I went back to Auto as I would occasionally forget to mark the location of my first putt, often enough that it was a hassle. Neither is good at marking tap-ins (they both...
My personal best was in 2019 at the age of 71, still playing from the "men's white tees" at a little under 6200 yards. It was somewhat of a surprise, as it came out of nowhere being that low! I previously had rounds, here and there, in the 60s, once as low as 68 (-4) on that course, but never...
Battery life is a non-issue for me, as I never play more than 18 in a day. After synching my round to the app, I plug it in to charge and leave it on the charger, hanging from a hook until the next time I go to play. I am still very pleased with the X5 as it rarely misses shots and is more...
I don't necessarily "rotate" headcovers, but I do sometimes switch between golf bags and then change to headcovers that go better with the bag that is then in use.
Too fast! I don't complete my backswing sometimes. When I force myself to slow the backswing down, I actually generate more clubhead speed and get better distance.
When I was much younger, bad shots could cause me to "suffer" all day. Now, I hit a bad shot I chuckle to myself, wonder where the heck that shot came from, and immediately start thinking about my next shot. Bad shots don't linger with me like they used to.
When I had cabinets put in my garage, one of the options was for a "golf cabinet". I can actually fit as many as four bags (two on either side) plus each side has a shelf that I use for golf towels, shoes, extra balls, etc. There is also a large storage area up above which is where I keep my...
I always used to play the ball down and 100% by the Rules and prided myself on that. These days, I admit to taking a mulligan once in a while. I also roll the ball occasionally as I belong to the course I do because of the cost and certainly not the course conditions, which, other than tees and...
If you still have the game where you can play from various tees, switching them up now and then gives you the opportunity to get some time in with different clubs and work on different parts of the game. Total yardage isn't the only thing to consider, but how the yardage is distributed over the...
