Every order we send includes a tube filled with 8-12 extra screws with the loctite applied (it's actually a nylon threadlocker that is friction based). Our recommendation is to recycle the screws while testing and then use brand new screws once you've finalized your configuration.
Because we...
Been MIA for past couple days, so responding to a couple threads:
Changing Shaft Length - Both before and after starting Astral, I've tinkered a lot with length and grips, so I have a ton of experience trying to salvage grips. Long story short, I don't think the juice is worth the squeeze. I...
Don’t think you can go wrong either. For the face insert, I’d stop worrying about the performance side and just focus on what feels, sounds, and looks best to you. Know you like the saints color scheme so all things being equal id go with the brass for you.
I wouldn't over think it. Performance between the 3 is slightly different, but not enough to pick one over the other. The feel and look characteristics are what really stand out as different. As I recall, you really liked the look of that gold/black combo, so I'd do that unless something else...
Alright, time to get down to brass tax - for the testers and owners out there, are you going to stick with the Astral, undecided, or go back to your gamer? Also, are there any features missing from your Astral that you would like to see in future iterations?
One comment we get a lot from...
As usual @leftybob nailed the response. Volumetric weight of steel is less than copper and brass, so needed more volume of steel to get to an equal weight.
What everyone is reporting here is what I would say about the three inserts - which is that they are all different, but not hugely different. We rate the copper as being the softest, brass the middle option, and steel is the hardest option. From our in-house testing, that hardness correlates...
Don't really have any insights on change in face insert based temperature other than perceived hardening of the ball/feel as it gets cooler. Hadn't really considered it as a separate variable until now.
All metals shrink and expand based on temperature, but they tend to move pretty much in...
Your observation on ball roll is something we see across the board. In fact, we've got the club with a pro golfer that specifically sought us out after trying his friend's putter. According to him, the putter rolls better than anything he's seen, and that includes his personal gold standard of...
@cmon man hit the nail on the head here, as you really don’t know until you try it. We sometimes will reference stroke type, but that’s only because it’s a concept more golfers know. In reality we don’t really care much about stroke type. All we care about is where your face is consistently at...
A quick two cents on offset and toe hang. IMO, they are the single most important specs of any putter, and I think of them as separate but related toggles. Having the power to manipulate both is really a game changer.
Some respond better to offset changes and others to toe hang, and most do...
The One Step is for sure going to be the closest to the All-In. With that said our stock shaft - KBS CT Tour - is really good. A lot went into optimizing the feel of these clubs so I was huge stickler on making sure we picked a stock shaft that gave it justice. The step up from CT Tour to the...
Nothing we haven’t discussed. Goal is to get you putting unconscious - I.e. no double think standing over the ball, walk up read the line and putt. It sounds like we are well on the way toward that goal!!!
Looking forward to getting you fitted!
If you are looking for something to try in the meantime, give the offset changes a try. Putter was sent to you in White B1 (paint side down, first slot forward of the face). Try White A2 (paint side up, first slot you can find forward of face), which...
looks like your up to bat again! Let me know if there is a good time Thursday to meet in office or perhaps Friday afternoon at my club for the fitting. My club will be a little closer to you (on Quincy between Sheridan and Wadsworth).
For sure. The primary line is machined in, but we can cut additional by laser super easy. Same goes for face inserts for those that want/need a top line alignment.
I’ll get you some pictures, but think @MtlJeff has posted a few of his, which is set up with no offset. They would likely be in the brand story thread.
