Crazy watching the wind at Pebble, yet I’m about 8 miles up the coast and there isn’t even a breeze! Forcast for tomorrow from noon is pretty crappy.
I’ve played in those strong winds, and it’s no joke!
Everyone because it would kill F1! I’d love to go back to the days of screaming V10’s, but how many V10 engines do the likes of Mercedes, Honda, Renault Cadillac et al produce? The only reason they are in F1 is to help develop the technology for their road cars. I wouldn’t want to see a formula...
I could easily do that. Been lucky enough to play all the courses on the peninsula except Cypress. Unfortunately, I don’t mix in the right circles LOL. However, top would be Spyglass, bottom would be Spanish Bay and honourable mentions would go to Poppy Hills and Pasadera (now TPC Monterey).
The pro am part of this has become a side show. When this was a full pro am, we were packed with aircraft here at the airport. We’d be struggling to find space to park aircraft. Now, there’s a few extra planes, but nothing too hectic. Although elevated, it’s become a lot less of an event here on...
Draw spin will generally run further than cut spin, I tend to find myself in more trouble if I miss left. That said, if I really carve it, it probably doesn’t really make too much difference.
I have Simon Dawkins’ number in my phone. He’s involved with my local USL football club, but more importantly. Played for Aston Villa, albeit on loan, during his playing days. No one else would give 2 hoots, but I think it’s cool.
Having been fortunate enough to play it 4 times, this course is anything but a snoozer. It’s a fantastic course. It is however, not even the best course on 17 mile drive, so as much as I love the course, there could be some truth to that take, although I would choose a different word than...
The drone shots on the downhill are nothing short of spectacular, but yeah, you wouldn’t think it would be too difficult to mix out the sound of the drone from the broadcast.
Shot an 83 at Blackhorse with a couple of doubles but a couple of birdies. First two hole were turds with me wondering why I even bothered getting out of bed. Found my swing on the 3rd and ended up playing the best round for a good while. This is a tough course with savage greens, so chuffed...
If by public, you mean city, then the only one I can think of is Pacific Grove that is now in pretty bad condition. I used to play there every week. Played for the first time in a couple of years back end of last year, and not sure I’ll play it ever again.
The privately owned courses open to...
England beating France at the Stade de France in 2008 in the rugby 6 nations. France were probably the stronger team, especially playing at home. I’m not sure I’ll ever attend another event with a better atmosphere than that night.
As an Englishman, that’s an easy one for me. Wembley Stadium, 1966, Geoff Hurst’s 4th goal against West Germany! Not only did it secure the World Cup but also provided what is probably the best piece of iconic commentary ever heard!
