OK I am going to have to add this into my shopping list for ArborLinks, and budget for it. Just reading this thread means I now can't live without it !
Before I started with my new coach 2 months ago I would have said driver.
Simple fact is that may take-away and rotation have been poor, and whilst with good hand-eye coordination I can get my irons back on track most of the time, I really struggle to do that consistently with my driver. So I'm...
Two near me and played them a lot while I was starting again and my son was learning from scratch.
1, 9-hole exec course with 6 par 3s and 3 shortish (250-280yds) par 4s
2, an 18-hole par 3 course
Both are great fun. Played the exec course twice last year about this time as it just became...
Probably $30
That gets me Callaway Tour Authentic, or a Footjoy Pure Touch or a G/Fore and then easily Footjoy Scitech or Callaway Dawn Patrol for the range.
I'll certainly try a Callaway Tour Authentic TD when I get the chance. That might cause me to reconsider - would depend on how long it...
Great thread - hanging on every post. Love some of the exclusives.
Japan is on my list to visit as well......need to tie it into an irons / wedges replacement cycle.
Voted 75%+ , I probably walk 90% of my rounds maybe more.
I'll use a buggy/cart in 3 conditions:
1) Multiple rounds per day / 2-day competition. I can walk 18 in a day, probably 18 on two consecutive days but playing 54 holes over 2 days I'll ride.
2) Treat when I'm visiting a resort course -...
I carry a rangefinder but pretty much exclusively use my Shotscope V5 watch. F/M/B pretty much does what I need, especially around my home course which has limited elevation changes.
The rangefinder comes out when I have a significant elevation change that goes beyond my ability to estimate it...
With pants it's a yes were I to be gifted them.
I'm unlikely to ever though - much as I like Adidas I have found them heavy and I'm so invested in G/Fore that I have similar pairs from them.
First round on a course since mid-November - injury and rain means that I have had a lot of time away from the grass. Managed to get 9 holes in today before work started - second tee time of the day. Mainly off mats but full greens - soggy in places and bunkers were GUR (had a drop on the 6th...
I try to keep myself positive when I'm playing on the course. When it does go wrong, I'm pretty good at cussing it out usually under my breath - sometimes not so much - and moving on.
I am far harder on myself on the range, but also more likely to praise myself for a good shot - the extremes...
I'm going with the deposit / flight tickets for the Trackers Championship. This one is both so far, and likely to be the best golfing thing that will happen to me this year (at least this year and maybe more).
From an equipment point of view, probably the Tour AD Di 6s driver shaft I bought for...
This and also is a fundamental part of the aerodynamic profile of the driver that drives clubhead speed. It probably has an impact on the sound and feel.
I go 5i to 7w (20*)
Although I do have a UT/Driving iron at 18* which goes about the same distance as my 5w on a good day, or my 7w on a not so good day - just with a massively different launch profile.
Quinta Di Cima in the Algarve, Portugal.
It is a championship course having hosted the Portuguese Open and other pro tour events. Played it in October 2024 after a significant amount of rain and the combination of the water and a long season of use had resulted in less than perfect conditions...
I'm in the same camp as others, and I have no alternative to hitting off mats at a range over the winter months. I'd rather practice regularly on mats and take a short while to adjust back to grass than not practice at all.
I did find last spring that I was thinning my irons when on grass, but...
