Not trying to be morbid, here… but, when do you forsee yourself giving up golf…
• When your health won’t let you
• When your scoring turns awful
• I’m gonna drop dead out on the course - enjoying it to the end!
I know I will get some blow-back from this one… but, Mookie Betts wearing #50 just seems strange to me. Now, I think he should wear any number he chooses… but, being a bit “old-school” he looks like a single digit guy to me.
A legendary place in Charlotte is the South 21 Drive-In. Seen here are the fabulous onion rings - right beside the “call-in box” which is just outside your car window.
Like others have said… it’s iron play for me… specifically 8-9-pw.
I feel like I’ve tried everything - but, I just can’t hit irons as well as I hit fw’s & hybrids.
It’s fun! It’s really fun! I’m around a 12hc… so, I can do ok… but, I can hit a squirrley shot at any time. But, when you do “pure” one - it is just so enjoyable. Bobby Jones said something to the effect of “the enjoyment of golf is not in the posting of a score… but, in the execution of...
Personally… I think hitting .400 for a year would grab the most attention (as it would be a building to a climax story)… and there are more baseball fans. Of these 3… this may be the most “achievable” also.
Of these 3 accomplishments… which one would make for the biggest sports story…………..
a) a golfer shoots 54 in a PGA event
b) a Major League Baseball player hits .400 for the year… or,
c) an NBA player breaks Wilt Chamberlain’s record of averaging 50.4 points per game?
Which would garner the most...
Looked at my records the other day… I’m usually 60 something in rounds played on average. This year, so far, I’ve only played 30 some times. Primarily due to weather conditions.
I would estimate that 85% of any practice I do is putting work. So, I wear my golf shoes so that everything will be the same when I’m out on the course for a regular round.
Mine was all the way back in January… used putter from just off the green… and drained it from about 50 feet! It was my last shot of the day - and it gave me a 77 for the round. That equalled my all-time personal best, shot almost 12 years earlier.
A couple of years ago I experimented with trying to swing like Steve Stricker. He may have a little wrist break in there - but, for the most part it “looks” like his wrists are locked in. Well… this has worked out amazingly well for me! I am finding the center of the club face more often -...
I live on the outskirts of Charlotte, NC. Many years ago a friend and I were out for what used to be our weekly round - at a nice course. We were just about to tee off when a gentleman approached us - asking if he could join us for the round. It was fine with us. He was about half our age...
Personally, because of all the heat & humidity I’ve played in the last few months… I’m just in the mood to hold off until cooler weather moves in. My game has not been as sharp the past few weeks… and I attribute much of that to fatigue (brought on by weather conditions). Maybe I’ll feel...
How is your game trending right now..? Are you on an upward surge… or, are you kind of just going through the motions? Anxious to get back out there… or, sort of indifferent..?
