Maybe this isn’t the seriousness that you were expecting… but, my takeaway is the uncertainty of it all. We can have expectations about the amount of golf we hope to play… even expectations on how well we might play… but, reality often differs. My rounds are down about half this year compared...
Mine was all the way back in January… used putter from just off the green… and drained it from about 50 feet! It was my last shot of the day - and it gave me a 77 for the round. That equalled my all-time personal best, shot almost 12 years earlier.
If I could go back to my early 60’s - I think I would enjoy a few days a week at a nice golf store (not a big box store)… selling clubs, balls, etc… and getting to talk golf with people.
Today I had an unexpected chip in… I was about 15 yards from the pin - which was on a raised green (about 4/5 feet above my feet). Using my CBX2 wedge (50*) … I decided to just put a smooth swing on it. It landed just short of the flag pole… and went right in! Yay!
One of the more interesting threads I’ve read here lately. While I have never been “fit” for clubs (been playing 30 years)… I was a voracious reader of all things golf equipment at the start. While we pretty much all make equipment mistakes in our early days… if we are attentive, we learn from...
Hey… I’m old enough to remember when the A’s left Kansas City for Oakland. I dislike them moving to Vegas… but, I don’t know why anyone would want to have a franchise in Oakland these days.
Differing viewpoint…
Sure… with all the talent or “hustle” he exhibited (and the hit record) maybe he deserved to be in the Hall. But…. his character sure didn’t deserve it. Yes… there are others in there with very spotty issues, but I think he kinda got what he deserved. He was responsible...
Perhaps, for me.... it was a green side bunker shot. Let me start by saying that I am not a real good bunker player. It’s something I can struggle with at times. Here was the scenario.... I need a par on the par five 18th at my home course - for a 79! I had never broken 80 on this course at this...
Yeah… unusual question… but, what is the most important shot that you’ve ever hit - up to now? Was it for money… for a big win over some one? Was it for a team win… or, a shot to reach a personal best? Whatcha got..?
Story was of a guy who just cheated with his score on every opportunity. If he had a 7 on a hole… and his partner wasn’t looking… he would write down a 6. If he had a 5 and didn’t think the other guy would notice - he’d put down a 4. This would happen so regularly… that one time it got away...
I’ve had two 77’s in my life. They came 12 years apart. What seems to stand out is that my ball striking was crisp and easy… no swing thoughts or being concerned about contact. Strange how you can “have it” and then wonder how to get it back.
I’ve been dropping like a rock the past 6/8 weeks. I’m losing my long game, which used to be my strength. I’m sure minor health issues have played a part… but, I am so frustrated right now. I may need to take a couple of weeks off - but, that will be difficult for me to do.
