Airport breakfast - heavy on the bacon - but for reference that *is* a small plate. Couldn’t face a beer though - too early and there will be plenty drunk in Portugal.
Bags packed.
Heads removed from shafts for my driver, 3w and 3h, Shafts placed tip down in the bag and stiff arm located in the centre of the bag. Wood heads placed in their head covers and then a couple of turns of bubble wrap before placing in the side pocket of the golf bag.
Iron covers on...
I mean I probably wouldn't buy a gold plated one, from an ad, with the tag line - "many people say this is a great golf club, probably the greatest golf club the world has ever seen" - named in capitals after the person selling it.....
... but other than that I'm OK with whatever an OEM comes...
Thank you !
Weather not looking so good at the moment - tail of hurricane Kirk will pass through while I'm there. Fingers crossed I get out on a course at least once.
I'll make the most of the trip - currently resetting expectations about the golf right now though :(
Emergency run to the pro-shop tonight.
Forecast for my trip to Portugal took a nose dive as it looks like we may be receiving the very tail end of Hurricane Kirk whilst there. Nothing in comparison to what many of you have faced and are about to face in Florida but significantly wetter than...
Irons.
Likely moving to Apex Ai200 from Apex 21. Spoke to my fitter this evening, and we might try T200s, P790s and Mizuno 245s just to be sure but they'll have to go some to beat out the Ai200s.
Depending on how the rest of my year goes I might also replace my oldest wedge - Jaws 52 degree...
Not sure how much these were priced at when they went on sale but one just turned up on a popular UK used clubs website for £900 (about $1175). Needless to say I won't be hitting the add to cart button.
I don't do anything other than clean them, and hit them.
Back when I was a junior around 16 years old I regripped all of my clubs, didn't even think twice about it. Now I'd rather buy grips from my local pro-shop at about a $2 premium over lowest internet price and they fit them for free - and...
6 iron here for me.
Reliable off the turf, probably the longest iron I have a chance of making the green with an approach shot (5i just not the reliable at such a small target) but I also absolutely love hitting it off the tee for tight fairways or a positional shot. As others have said often...
McDonalds or a KFC here.
I typically don't stop and eat-in so KFC are mini-fillets rather than chicken on the bone.
That said I'll sometimes just grab a sandwich from a Subway, or one of the service station supermarket chains,
New irons, and probably at least one new wedge.
I'm also likely to get a driver fitting as well with my swing changes and improvement. Whether that means a change of head or shaft or stay as is not sure. Really happy with the Ai Smoke Max and could happily live with it. My 3w, 7w and 3h are...
If I could, I wouldn't.
Golf is my hobby, and the thing I do to get away from work. I'd hate for it to be my job
(kudos to anyone that works in the industry, manages to separate the two and gets to love both).
Range this morning - 150 balls.
Warmed up through irons, 3H and 3w then 75 balls with the Ai Smoke driver which I de-lofted from 10.5 to 9.5 based on Brad's post in the driver thread. Significant improvement of fairways found in that set - which I'm stoked about.
The Toptracer 30 which was...
@Just_Brad if I had the time before my Portugal trip I'd jump on a plane to Manitoba and shake your hand / give you a man hug / buy you a beer etc
Despite the fact you should never really change anything close to a major event I decided to de-loft my 10.5 Ai Smoke driver today for my final...
It is quality isn't it - especially like the addition of the pro-tip as well. Just need to get my head around these being in meters rather than yards !
Taking my first foreign golf trip next week off to Vilamoura, Portugal for a winter break with some of my work golfing buddies. Staying in a large air bnb villa, and self driving to the courses rather than going to a hotel with a captive course. Weather should be sunny and in the mid to high 70s...
Missed it today - got caught up in other things, and listened to the Arsenal game on the internet.
Yesterday was fun - Bob MacIntyre had a turbulent 3 holes and effed and jeffed his way on all of them from tee to green. Have not heard so many apologies for bad language in such a short space of...
