Regardless of set, it's always the 8i. I don't know why, maybe that length just suits me perfectly. Many times I hit my 8i longer than I hit the 7, just because I strike it so much better. Coincidentally, can't hit a 9 to save my life.
Mine has been lagging recently too. It seems like it takes several tries for the gps to find the satellites and takes 5-10 minutes a pop before it finally catches on. Sometimes we're already a couple holes in before I get set up for the course we're playing.
A little extra stopping power should result in some more GIR over time. Add in the forgiveness and you can definitely see some lower scores in the future.
I think they play what gives them the best chance to win in most cases. Unless you're one of the top guys and get paid enough to play a certain brand, then you need the best clubs possible for your game to try to cash a check. I don't know what the threshold is for good enough for a sponsorship...
