I'd suggest choking down on driver until it feels too light. Then you can add lead tape to bring the SW back up to find what works best for you.
Some clubs have adjustable weights. Taking them out will also lower the SW.
What you want is consistent contact.
Fitted irons with a steeper descent angle to hold the greens. An inch shorter and 2* upright.
Able to hold greens with cheap 2 piece balls and not bounce off. Works even better with urethane balls.
Last June I played with a guy with Ping Eye2s in his bag!
I purchased fitted clubs a year before retirement.
I wanted irons that would hit and hold tiny greens.
They are ladies flex so I doubt I'll ever need something else.
I was also fitted for a 3HL that I use effectively off the fairway.
Played less than a dozen rounds this season.
But, I figured out my alignment issues, particularly with driver!
Then I figured out that my grip was too strong, and put sidespin on the ball when hitting a fade, my natural shot shape.
It wasn't hard to play with a weaker grip and fix that!
I was...
Yes, a 2 piece balls will often survive a bounce off a cart paths with minimal damage. They also come in more colors which can be helpful when playing in adverse fall conditions with plenty of leaves on the ground.
Hi Thegeezer,
I had a stroke 25 years ago and never thought I'd be playing golf until just few years ago!
I learned to play on a short beginner/senior course for three years and just started playing 9 holes at longer courses this year.
I started off this season by playing nine hole at the East...
You need to practice the mental game, like every other part of the game!
I'd suggest practice rounds aimed at making your mental game stronger.
Go ahead and make those difficult shots at the pin. But keep score and play by the rules!
If you blow up your score on a hole, take an extra stroke...
I work on improving my golf during the season.
Last year it was ball first iron contact. Then I moved on to short game with my wedges.
Spent some time at the beginning of the season properly aiming driver.
Now I'm working on getting rid of the side spin caused by an improper grip.
Just had a...
I put a grip trainer on a 7 iron. Will be using it this winter to remember how to properly grip the club.
An improper grip can generate side spin that may not be picked up by some launch monitors.
Instead of hitting off a mat I hit my iron practice swings off a tee. I also use a tee high enough on Par 3 iron so I don't have to clean the face of the club.
Bare lies are a lot better than losing balls in the leaves!
I've learned how to pick the ball off bare lies.
One of my best shots of the year was a 70 yard approach shot off a bare lie. While it was the middle of summer, the tree shade prevented the grass from growing.
If you learn how it is...
