What would you do if you were air-horned...?

I've seen several videos on youtube of golfers getting air-horned while teeing off. I'm surpised at how angry these guys and gals get, cursing, hitting balls at the air-horners, trying to chase them down for a fight, etc. If I got air-horned, I'd probably laugh, and, if I saw the air-horners...

    Wife nixes wedge...

I've been playing 15 clubs during the inactive season, so I need to dump one club for the active season. I sought my wife's advice.... She asked what I was carrying. I told her driver, 4w, 3h, 3-pw, gw, aw, sw, p. She questioned why I needed more than one wedge. I would have liked to respond...

    Balls on the water...

Course opened Fri. the 13th. I didn't play then, and I didn't play this weekend, but my wife rode her bike over near the course during the weekend and told me it was busy. I played my first round of the season today. Most of the ponds on the course are thawed, but there's one that's still...

    Golf books at Project Gutenberg

I was poking around for something golf-related to read, and decided to check out the offerings at the Project Gutenberg site. (This site has free e-books you can read online and download.) There were a fair number of golf-related books. I read through The Complete Golfer by Harry Vardon...

Would you wear steel spikes if allowed?

I would, at least when playing in light rain. I swing flat-footed, and have, on occasion, slipped wearing soft spikes, even though I have a slow swing speed (90 mph with the driver). That never happened with steel spikes. Plus, steel spikes are easy to clean, and I love the sound of them...

    New course for Iowa/South Dakota/Minnesota

I just checked the web site of the Grand Falls Casino & Golf Resort (www.grandfallsresort.com), and it says their golf course, a Rees Jones design, will open in Spring 2015. The course is in Larchwood, IA, close to Sioux Falls, SD. The GOLF tab on the web site shows the course layout, card...

Do any (U.S.) THP members play foursomes?

I'm going to try to talk some guys at the club into playing foursomes next season. Does anybody here, U.S. members in particular, play foursomes regularly?

End of Active Season Here (stats)

Today was the last day of our active season. I played 142 rounds in 206 days, all walking with Clicgear 3.5+. Most consecutive days played: 18 (19 rounds 10/14-10/31) Most consecutive days not played: 6 (7/4-7/9; wife reminded me I was repairing deck) Scoring average: 89.14 (88.84 with ESC)...

Anybody remember/play the Top-Flite Tour ML ball...?

I think this ball was in production something like 12 years ago, around 2002. It was a three-piece ball, made in U.S.A. I went through a dozen, way back then. I don't remember how it was distance-wise (except that it wasn't terrible), but it sure spun well. Biggest drawback: Durability was...

Score with best hole scores from last five rounds...

My last five scores are 87, 84, 85, 85, 82. Taking the best score for each hole from those five rounds, I would have a score of 69. :bulgy-eyes: P.S. These scores are all from the same course.

Mine is 1 mile away. Google Maps says it's a 3-minute drive, but it usually takes me a bit longer.

How much does your usual ready-to-play bag weigh?

I have a Great Divider bag, Trolley model. Loaded and ready to play (carry strap removed), the weight is 22 pounds. This includes about 1 pound of water and six balls. My clubs have graphite shafts except for four clubs with steel shafts (GW, AW, SW, and putter). No rain gear is included in the...

    Slowest play, ever...

For my second round yesterday, I played in front of a scramble, nine players in five carts. I knew they were coming, so I booked a tee time before them. (As always, I was walking, with my Clicgear 3.5+.) I was on the second green (about 15 minutes after I teed off) when they teed off on No. 1...

    I'm a savage (PB)

I shot a personal best score of 37 + 38 = 75 today (round No. 114). It was my first and only round under 80 this season, and one of only a handful of rounds I've ever shot in the 70's (and they've all come during this time of the year). Three bogeys, all the rest pars. No penalties (one water...
