With the season over and a week to go before the next season kicks off I thought it would be a good time to get THPers thoughts on a few things from the last year of PGA Tour golf.

1. Your player of the year?
2. Your Tournament/Event of the year?
3. Your moment of the year?
4. Best shot of the year?
5. Surprise of the year?
6. Rookie of the year?
7. Disappointment of the year?

Lots of places to take these.

Here are mine:
1. Player - DJ, with Rory a second after the way he played in the playoffs.
2. The Open - Stenson and Phil lapping the field and giving a showdown that will be remembered for years.
3. For me the Arnold Palmer memorial service. Kuch winning the Bronze medal in the Olympics would be my second place choice.
4. DJ on 18 at the US Open. Exclamation point on a great round despite the USGA hubbub.
5. Spieth's 12th hole on Sunday at Augusta. Cruising towards back to back green jackets, and then unexpectedly dunking two balls.
6. Grillo - just a great season and fun to watch. Think he'll be around a while.
7. The so called "new big three" not winning a major. After last season I thought we'd be primed for a major win by Day or Spieth or Rory.

What are yours?

Player? DJ
Tournament/Event? The Open on Sunday was as good as it gets.
Moment? Furyk's 58.
Shot? Ryan Moore's 2nd shot to set up eagle in singles was about as clutch as it gets.
Surprise? Spieth on 12 at Augusta (twice), tied with Phils putt for 62 missing.
Rookie? John Rahm.
Disappointment? Day/Spieth/Rickie all had a rough year (by their high standards)

1. Dustin Johnson, 14 Top 10 finishes, 11 Top 5 finishes, 3 wins, 1 major (Rory is actually very close, a lot closer than you may think)
2. Ryder Cup, the intrigue was there from start to finish
3. Spieth on 12, Stenson walking his putt in from 51 feet is right up there as well
4. Dustin Johnson slamming the door in the USGA's face with his approach on 18 at Oakmont
5. Spieth on 12
6. Grillo, made the cut at all 4 majors (1 of only 14 to do so) with the 3rd best score (+10)
7. Day's violent swing catching up with him, or Spieth on 12

Stenson has not spent any time outside the Top 10 OWGR since the middle of 2013 (the longest active Top 10 OWGR streak)

Spieth went bogey-bogey before his quad. I don't think many people remember that.
