I leave big divots
(Yes, Claire, there are in fact two Garys who own the vineyard used in this wine.)
So I've heard that 2007 may have been the best year for Cali pinot since they started making it. I like Loring's stuff, though I usually let it age a while before opening. Well, got an invite to a friend's house for sushi and I needed to pick up a bottle of something since I wasn't going to be able to stop at the house. He lives by a great wine store, Bassins/McArthur Wines, so I dropped by and saw this on sale for $39 and grabbed it. Glad I did -- very good. Really good fruit here, but not cloyingly concentrated or over the top, and nice, tart acid on the finish that balanced it out nicely. This needs a few years for sure, but even drunk as early as we did, after about an hour it opened up into an easy to drink, enjoyable bottle.
Edit: bottle pic --
P.s. It's "Wine Company," Not "Wine Cellars" but I can't fix the thread title. Sorry.
