So I was driving to work this morning and had The Grandaddy on my mind and was thinking about all the conversations that took place with the team prior to the event and now after. What is the one thing that each of the new teammates is looking forward to the most?

yes

we are all really jacked to find out what new equipment they have in store for us. with all the recent releases, it's hard to imagine that there can be anything left! but we all know callaway is never without a trick up their sleeves, and something amazing is always in the pipeline.

but more than the pre-release gear, i'll have the opportunity to enter the gates of the hideaway. to take divots out of its pristine driving range and fairways. to miss 3-footers on its perfectly true greens. and to constantly be told by jb to hurry the f-ck up because it's taking too long to pick my jaw off every tee box in awe as i look around at golf heaven.

but more than teeing it up in golf heaven, it's also the tour-level fitting. i've had fittings, even some fittings i thought were pretty good. but never in my life have i had this kind of opportunity. the men and women who fit the best in the world will put their eyes and expertise on little ol' me.

but more than the tour-level fitting, i'll get exclusive, unfiltered access to the minds who make the gear that shapes and influences the entire industry. i have some questions, believe me i have some QUESTIONS!!!

but more than the access to zoo crew, it's being with my team. my heart has ached for some of these men as they and their loved ones have faced terrible challenges. i have prayed for them as they bravely face the many challenges life and family presents. and i have laughed like a fool with and at them as we cover nsfw topics than would make dr ruth blush. we have many mottos, but one should definitely be, "there's a gif for that."

so, my answer to your question is "yes."

Great post cap

A few more bits of news about jaws on the Callaway podcast this week, as well as a few beeped out product name drops. Interesting indeed.

As for the one thing, I don’t think I could narrow it down. The whole thing still is even hard to wrap my head around even a few months. The fitting is the obvious choice, but given the conversations so far, the laughs are probably going to be right up there as well.

Told a few relatives about it this weekend and they couldn’t believe it, one jokingly said to expect well be asked to sit through a timeshare seminar at some point. Ha!

I'm thinking on what I'm looking forward to the most and it's hard to quantify each aspect as they're ask amazing in their own way.

Tomorrow when I'm on my pc again I'll type out something a lot more wordy than it needs to be :)

I answered this question a couple pages back and my answer is the same. I am looking forward to the fitting process and meeting my teammates in person. But I have been working hard on my game and it is coming around with some lower scores. So I am also looking forward to doing well in competition.

Looking forward to every component of this event / trip for various reasons, but the one consistent (aside from being with my team) has been the bus ride. The clubs, the Q&A about products, the info about unreleased lines, the golf (oh the golf), are all so far above what I would have ever expected, but the several hours that we'll be confined with 12 Callaway employees on the way to La Quinta has always been at or near the top for me. Having the chance to just get to know the people who really make the brand, from a public point of view. Really excited about this part of it.

This is great! The bond this event brings between you and your teammates and the zoo crew is by far the best thing this event did for me. You mentioned family troubles or hardships in your post and there were some of us that had to endure those leading up to the event and after, including myself. I honestly don't know how I would have made it though the time when my grandfather was given two weeks to live right before the event and then him passing right after. Those guys kept me grounded and lifted me up when I needed it the most. They are my family and I'm very grateful that God put them in my life! Can't wait for you guys to get to experience something as awesome as The Grandaddy!!!

Don't concentrate on your game so much! If you do well, you do well. If you dont, you don't. Focus on the bond that you and your teammates are forming and all the friendships you have made and will make with the zoo crew. Honestly we all want to play well and I remember my team wanted to play well, but after it was all over we could care less how we played. We were just so happy to have had this opportunity and to be with each other and all the laughter and memories that were made.

Seeing the 80 day mark literally brought a smile to my face for you guys.

It is just amazing how exciting it is being this close. Getting our days we would be there was a huge deal.

In terms of what I am looking forward to the most. I have been thinking about that question a lot the last couple of days. I have come to the conclusion that it is kind of a moving target. Each day seems to bring a different level of excitement for a different aspect of the event.

While listening to Callaway podcasts, I get a taste of the Zoo Crews personalities and I get really excited to rub elbows with them. They seem like a great bunch of people with an awesome work culture. I wonder who I will get to play with, who I’ll share laughs with.

Other days, I am laughing my butt off at my teammates. Our conversations aren’t always PG, but they are always damn funny. The bonds we are making in the months leading up to the event have me excited and honored to get to spend a few days with these guys. It’s amazing how well everyone is meshing. I can’t wait for the bus rides and the opportunities to just sit down and shoot the sh*t with everyone. I can honestly say that I count every one of these guys as friends not just teammates. I feel like we can talk about dang near anything and we’ll be there for each other.

The Jaws wedge release hits me with a new level of excitement for the gear to come. I mean, I knew that I would be receiving a bag full of awesome. But, actually seeing some of the product just made it more real. The fitting process will be an absolute treat and something I have never gone through at this level. I am excited to put my trust in their fitters and know that I am going to get clubs that are a perfect match for my game.

Oh man. The Hideaway is gorgeous. Seeing pictures from events gone by has me all sorts of excited to step foot on the grounds. I mean from the perfect conditions down to choco tacos and all. It’s a level of course that I haven’t played before and likely won’t again, at least for a long time after the event. Plus, the fact that I get to play there when there will likely be snow on the ground back home is a nice touch.

Probably one of the most exciting parts and also the most intimidating is THP. The buzz that this event generates is insane. I cannot wait to feed you guys content. Pics, videos, match updates, and food porn! Gauging tone off of the written word can be difficult. So, I don’t know if it always comes across. But, in my short time here, this place has become special to me. My happy place. My escape when my day isn’t going well. My golf fix. Being trusted to provide you guys the experience of the Grandaddy through my eyes in incredibly humbling. I get butterflies thinking about the responsibility. Am I going to take enough pics, am I going to be able to keep up with updates, am I going to make it feel like you are part of the experience.

In short, my level of excitement never fluctuates. But, the target of that excitement changes from day to day. There is just so much to look forward to in an event that I still cannot believe that I am partaking in.

Aside from getting our last two teammates, the next big event will be getting that flight info.

some banter in another thread has me thinking about drivers. no offense to callaway, but i've never met a callaway driver that i've gotten along with. struggling off the tee is no fun, so i'm looking forward to the fitters finding the perfect fit for me. i would like a mid/high launch, mid spin driver. maybe with a shaft in the 65-70g range.

What specifically gives you the fits with them? Just trouble hitting the center of the face? Spin issues?

Sounds like you don’t need a fitter, you chose the weight already haha.

I’m in the same boat as Chris. For me, it’s finding center face and just not being comfortable with them at address. I also just don’t love the way they sound / feel, which is obviously not a performance knock. Did like the sound on XR16 tho.

Im really looking forward to seeing what they dial up for me, as G400max has slain all competitors for me up to now.

I’m guessing you pick up about 8yds on your driver after your fitting. Just my guess!

I’d be very ok with this if forgiveness is equal!

And I bet it'll be the longest 80 days of waiting, anticipation on an event of this magnitude has to be incredibly hard!!! But well worth it.

yep, center face. i've only owned two that i can recall. something in the ft line, and the epic. that ft driver was snap hook city for me and made golf not fun at all. the epic i was all over the face, despite getting fit for it. when hit with proper mechanics, the epic was long af. but with my b swing being lower launch and lower spin, the epic wasn't maximized for that.
